Coffeeshop Questions
Coffeeshop Questions
I have not been on this forum in a long time. I used to love this place for information and such. I have a few questions regarding Amsterdam and Haarlem. Is there an updated map which shows the locations of shops that are currently in business? Also are there any major changes to coffeeshop regulations in the past 7 years. I made these questions broad on purpose to get as many responses as possible. I am planning a trip this year and any help would be appreciated. Peace:)

Re: Coffeeshop Questions
only changes
MORE tourists and many coffeeshop closures (there are still many choices, they are just busier)
red light district has cleaned up and is smaller
otherwise it remains quite lovely

Thanks. A quick look at the maps shows lots of changes. Man Old Church moved!

I have a mental picture of you as Willie Nelson for some reason.

Fewer coffeeshops
Even in Janurary the ones I was in were crowded and unplesant. Unplesant unless massive crowds are your thing.
A line out into the street at the grey area, or being unable to find a seat at Barneys, or a very crowded Dampkring says one thing. A constant line waiting to get in at Smokeys says something else. As did the loud noise and constant yelling and noise until 3:30 am in the square in and around Smokeys.
Having not been in several years I was shocked by the price of product. The best value deal I found was the 3 grams of blueberry at the noon for 25 euros. My last trip it was 4 grams for 23 euros. And before that 5 grams for 24.
before decent value options were easy to find. Not so much now.
You will not believe how crowded the city is now

Re: Coffeeshop Questions
It sounds like a grab and go at the Coffeeshop and then back to the houseboat for consumption will be a good option. I have visited most often towards the end of April and crowds at Grey Area and Barneys are what I am used to. I have avoided Smokeys due to negative reviews so no problem there. I may need to go at a different time for less crowds but it sounds like that would not help much. Oh well such is life.

reads . the contractor[s] and their mark are all in a café, the hit goes south, mark boogies .
contractor[s] hang around after the fact, who knows what that fucking logic was about?
cops kick the door down resulting in a paddy wagon parade .
something seems odd . story version don't pass the smell test .

Its a long story. There is a gang war in Dublin and a gang war in Amsty. It seems the opposing factions in both spots have joined sides to help each other out.
