The prisons aren't overflowing with marijuana offenders. Methamphetamine is the biggie for incarceration.
But Hispanics show a disparity in the incarceration rate, not blacks or whites.
Here is the website and article on marijuana incarceration. An interesting read. https://drugabusestatistics.org/marijua ... rceration/
There is hope. I hope I live to see the day where no one is imprisoned for simple marijuana possession. Traffickers make up the overwhelming majority of those imprisoned for marijuana.

Re: Marijuana Incarceration Statistics
The state Senate in Alabama passed a bill in committee to make possession of cannabis legal in a way. The committee voted 6-3 to make possession of two ounces or less punishable by a fine of $250. No jail time, no felony, no nothing, just a simple fine. The bill now goes to the full Senate for a vote where it is surprisingly expected to pass. But the House is another story. It's iffy to pass the House...we'll have to wait and see.
It's about time, even for this backward, overly conservative state, to address simple marijuana possession with a fine only.
