Libertarian Presidential candidate 2020

Postby modern roots » Mon Jun 15, 7:40 pm

The Libertarians have selected a woman, Jo Jorgensen, to be their Presidential candidate for 2020. You have an alternative to the Dems and Repubs.

I'll sit back and watch people on this forum attack her.

How much media attention will she get from CNN, MSNBC, and Fox? Seems the two parties have these news stations wrapped around their little fingers.

It's time to include Libertarians in the debates.
Wonder why the Dems and Repubs put up so much resistance?
They want to deny ballot access to 3rd parties too.

As of April 2020, Gallup polling found that 31% of voters are Democrat, 30% are Republican and 36% are Independents.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politic ... tes#Gallup

Independent voters now have the plurality in America. At least some people have seen the light. I know I am an independent voter and I voted Libertarian for President in 2016. So this current mess isn't on my hands. I plan to vote Libertarian again this year. Looks like a woman will get my vote for President.

Here is Jo Jogensen's webpage so you can educate yourself about her policies and agenda.

Don't say you haven't been made aware.

Libertarians have absolutely no solutions for the healthcare, housing or wealth inequality crises. Neoliberalism is a zombie ideology.

To be honest I didn't know we had a healthcare, housing and wealth inequality crisis.

Healthcare is available to anyone here. Those with high paying jobs pay for their health insurance while those living in poverty qualify for state Medicaid health insurance at no charge. It is free to them. They don't pay deductibles. They don't pay for office visits. They don't pay for hospital stays. Can't get much better than that. So you'll have to be more specific on the healthcare crisis before I can respond with anything else.

Same with housing. We have government subsidized housing here. I used to live in a government subsidized two bedroom flat before i got a better job and could afford my townhome. I paid only $340 for a flat that would have otherwise cost me twice that had I been making more money. They have strict income guidelines though.

So far as wealth inequality, well that will always be with us. Just look at what professional athletes get paid. Tens of millions of dollars for playing a silly game while a grocery store clerk gets paid $13 an hour for tiresome, grueling and repetitive work. How would you handle the massive difference in income between a professional athlete and grocery store clerk? Quite the conundrum, don't you think?

Bottom line, now that Bernie Sanders is out, the Libertarians most closely align with my agenda. And don't forget, Bernie isn't really a Democrat. He's an Independent Senator from Vermont. He just ran as a Democrat so he could get media coverage and get in the debates. He did it for the widespread attention. Had he remained true to himself and stayed an Independent he would still be in the race and on the ballot in November. That's the price he paid for selling his soul to the Democrats.

I posted a link, Dazzler.
https://joj2020.com/issues-jo-jorgensen/
Here is where the Libertarian Presidential candidate stands on the issues. Did you take the time to read it? She spells it out for you on each issue. Everything from the military to education to poverty to criminal justice to social security. It doesn't take long to read it. So yes, I know where the Libertarians stand on the issues.

The 2020 Libertarians do not align with the right or Republicans on numerous issues. Their stance on the military is different. Their stance on criminal justice reform isn't right wing or Republican. Their view on immigration isn't right wing. Their stance on the deficit, debt, and debt ceiling isn't right wing .
Their beliefs on education isn't right wing. I could go on and on about how their viewpoints on the issues differ from the right wing, Republican stances. That's why I posted the link, so you can see for yourself where the Libertarians stand in 2020.

Military stance is great. Every other policy is economically right wing: individualistic solutions for collective problems.

Yep, their position on the military, neutrality and peace is the best. The Dems and Repubs will do nothing even close to the sort when it comes to our military.

So far as your other assertion about being right wing, you'll have to be more specific and point me to something where you can prove it. The Libertarian stance on criminal justice reform certainly isn't right wing. Jo Jorgensen said she will pardon all people currently incarcerated for non violent, victimless crimes and work to repeal the drug laws. This is nowhere close to anything right wing or Republican.

The Libertarian position on trade and immigration isn't right wing or Republican. Freedom to travel anywhere, no travel bans, and the freedom to immigrate and live where you want. This most closely resembles the far left.

The only thing you might even consider right wing or Republican is their position on social security by giving people the choice to "opt out" of paying the 6.2% social security tax and not receiving social security payments and benefits at retirement age. I think the age is currently 65 or 67 to receive benefits. I don't have a problem with this. If someone wants to keep that 6.2% that they have earned and invest it as they see fit for their retirement years I'm all for it. I wouldn't do it, but if you want to that's fine with me. Some people might invest that money in the stock market or buy gold or silver or treasury bonds or even start their own business with the money. It's about choice and freedom to do what you want with your money.

And one more thing, what do you consider a "collective problem", that's a little vague. What kind of collective problem do you personally have that you want more government and bureaucrats and politicians to address that you can't handle yourself?

I just got an email from Jo Jorgensen. I signed up to volunteer so I get emails. She wants to audit the Federal Reserve. This should make alpha happy. He's wanted to audit the Federal Reserve for years.

Separatism is our most deadly weakness.

Militaristic or symbolic, it is our enemy.

We need unity, not division.

The Libertarians look better everyday.

No worldwide military. Neutrality and Peace. No foreign wars.
No mass incarceration for victimless drug "crimes".
No trillions of dollars of debt.
No increasing the debt ceiling.
Freedom to travel and live where you want to.
No more failed Dept. Of Education.

Fuck me, I'll be voting Libertarian again in 2020.

Most of her stated policies on her website are not neoliberal, that is what our democrats embrace and what's ruined the concept of an american dream, only nightmares lately. She doesn't go nearly far enough tho for wealth inequality, nor housing. I believe the only real solution is a debt jubilee, wiping out all debt and resetting the economy overnight. No more patents for drug companies and existing ones expunged. Outlaw health ins. companies and remove federal gpv't. from messing with it any further. Taxing only corporations and individuals making more than say $100k. Many of her other policies tho would past muster with me and a breath of fresh air compared to the two baloney parties.

Does she have any chance at all? Just look at the comments so far, since mr is for her everyone else ain't.

Well, I got another email from Jo today. She's asking for money to help get the Libertarians on the ballot in all 50 states. Says she needs a little over $200,000 by the end of June to make this happen.

But alas, I have no money to give. I hope she can raise the money.

Using your own logic why the fuck is she having to raise money? If she had just studied or worked hard enough then she wouldn't have to raise money then would she?

We were watching "Idiocracy" the other night and had to stop watching.

It now seems like a reality show.

I'd talk about raising money. The Dems and Repubs are on your income tax forms asking for contributions. Where's your outrage for this? Why do the Dems and Repubs get on tax forms while the Libertarians are not?
