Today Vermont, the fourteenth state to join the Union (was prior an independent republic), is now a legal cannabis state and no longer a prohibition state.
The Vermont legislature approved what I call a “Legal Light” bill, similar to that in Washington DC. This is the first time the legislature approved legalization. The other free states changed laws by voter referendum.
So now possessing one ounce of weed is completely legal... as is growing two mature plants at home, with four immature.
The governor, a Republican excavation contractor, not known for his cerebral capabilities, who was voted in because he is a “nice guy” and next in line, said he had strong reservations about the billl (as usual, youth smoking weed and stoned drivers). But he also said he had a libertarian streak..... thus he grudgingly signed it.
You won’t be able to buy weed legally in Vermont...... so no ski tourist tax dollars supporting the economy.
In any event, it is a step forward. How nice to have the freedom to smoke some herb without fear.
Never ever thought it would happen in my lifetime.....

Congratulations. Infused maple syrup. Yum!

Congratulations. I love that Vermont did it in spite of Jeff Sessions.
55 million people in America use cannabis and over half of adults have tried it. Living in a place where there are no back ally deals or fear of getting arrested is great.
