It's all a scam Banks and strictly how one manipulates the numbers, which the feds do with endless abandon. The 27% in your article is a net amount, which is minus what the US exported to other countries. However the amount of crude oil processed at US refineries was 44% imported, according to the same agency. Still, apparently lowest amount imported since 1985 tho. I found it interesting, that in my link they list the five top countries we imported from as Canada, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Venezuela and Iraq, but when posting a graph with the numbers replace Iraq, with Russia. Iraqi amounts must still be confidential.
