He reckons one of the fit as fuck barmaids bobs down to do the dirty deed, but she might sit on a stool filing her nails while some toothless old Perry actually does the noshing!

Peace, Des.

konichiwamotherfuckers

reporting to you live from somewhere in japan. not sure exactly but from the looks of it, it is the secuacus, nj of japan.

long flight.

got off the plane. itwas hot in the airport. having just watched the latest sherlock holmes movie in flight i was able to deduce it was most likely due to energy cuts as you guys mentioned they were shutting down the nuke power plants.

bus to yokohama. sat next to a bloke from liverpool who lived in japan. art teacher.

got to talking and conversating. he told me how he:d gone to the afflicted area to help after the disaster. he told me how they do random geiger counter checks throughout tokyo looking for radioactive hotspots. turns out tokyo was in the path of the fallout due to the wind. anyway lots of foreign companies yanked their employees from tokyo area so the gov:t is trying to convince them its all good now by doing these tests.

have been two scares so far. they measured high levels of radioactivity but it turned out to be from professors having brought home radioactive materials to fool with. nice.

and yes, the country is doing some energy cutbacks. businesses are running less airco. they used to keep everything at 55F but now they cant. office bldgs cutting backon lights and stuff.

cool guy. he tried to show me how to get to the railroad station in yokohama but i got lost anyway.

holy shit everything is in japanese here. cant read amap, cant tell which train goes where.

drunk japanese dude and his wife - smelling like plum wine - roll up. these two help me find my train. ride with me all the way to my stop, must have been an hour. chatting the whole way. when i yawned as im fuckin tired i apologize for yawning in their face. they apologize to me for feeling that i had to apologize to them. dude even gets out at my stop and hails me a cab.

they tell me how grateful they are that the us sent the 7th fleet to help out when the disaster happened. tells me his company is moving office bldgs for a more earthquake resitant bldg. wonder if he]s not telling me that maybe his bldg was in fallout zone. his move reminds me of how after sept 11 everyone moved their offices out of manhattan.

told me that the ground shook for 5 minutes that day. damn.

watching japanese tv. news is all about the olympics. the newscasters bow to the viewers before they start talking. did see a report on demonstration that was obviously anti nuke power as they had signs with that nuclear symbol on it. big demonstartion. some lady with a baby is being interviewed. seemed peaceful enuf altho they do show some dude doing the peaceful resistance thing and the cops picking him up. pretty relaxed tho.

Cool...If you get a chance to go sightseeing up around the restricted zone, drop in on Naoto in Tomioka. He could use some company for a spell.

in okinawa now. these people all want to take me out for drinks. i am so jet lagged i am dizzy.

we go out for drinks, they drink some kind of liquor they mix with water. it reminds me of columbian agua ardiente.

we get drunk.

when they want to go home, they can call a service that sends two guys over to them. one guy drives their car back to the house, and the other follows to pick up the driver of your car once they park it at your house.. crazy. drunk drivin laws are very strict here. they can get fired if arrested.

i like it here. they think of everything.

Something must be wrong somewhere.
The NRC never makes a move until they have to.

Whatever is eventually chosen, I’ll bet archeologists of the future scrutinizing the artifact-to-be will marvel about current-day humanity’s desire for energy—a desire so great that we produced waste to last 100,000 years.

I'll bet they won't. They'll probably think "Fuck, wish they'd saved some for us."

It's an interesting article that does raise the uncomfortable question: Has this already happened? Were they trying to warn future explorers about dangerous buried material or was that just Howard Carter making sure no-one got near before he'd helped himself?

Enormous quantities of decommissioned Russian nuclear reactors and radioactive waste were dumped into the Kara Sea in the Arctic Ocean north of Siberia over a course of decades, according to documents given to Norwegian officials by Russian authorities and published in Norwegian media.

"The K-27 nuclear submarine, which was sunk by the Soviet Navy in 1981 for disposal, poses a possible risk of exploding beneath the sea. The submarine was not among radioactive hazards cataloged by Russian Authorities."

Lovely. I wonder how many of Chernobyl`s goodies are down there as well.

Yeah, the Soviets didn't give a fuck about disposal - they just dumped it as far away from party members as they could.

TEPCO, the Japanese utility in charge of the Fukushima Daiichi power plant
that melted down last year, admitted on Friday that the disaster could have
been averted. So why did it fail to act accordingly?

“There was concern that if new severe accident measures were implemented, it could spread concern in the siting community that there is a problem with the safety of current plants,â€￾

No shit? What the fuck is the 'siting community' and what pub do they meet in?

If nothing else, it gives a tasteless reason to dredge this headline back up from earlier and link the two together
