My kid was riding his bike to work until this week. He said the tumbleweeds were trimming his beard.

No problemo for us, we have the best overall weather in the USA imo.
We have 8-12 inches of snow coming this week-end.
I'll be on a Bobcat with a brush that throws a rooster-tail of snow 40 feet.

I feel bad for all the people having to go through a really bad winter wherever you are.

Not much snow predicted up north here this weekend but pretty cold down to 2F tomorrow night. Next weekend doesn't look much warmer even down south there either. Still can't complain though when I see what the east is enduring.

saw today that not only is Colorado getting sued by two neighboring states for it's legal pot - there are also 2 more lawsuits being filed by a private group, Safe Streets Alliance, an anti-crime organization led by a former Reagan administration official. In one suit, two Colorado property owners are suing a handful of marijuana industry participants under federal racketeering laws and state and local officials under the charge that they are violating the constitution’s supremacy clause by not enforcing federal law. In the other suit, Safe Streets joined with the Holiday Inn in Frisco to sue a number of marijuana industry participants on racketeering charges. That suit claims that a planned legal marijuana store is causing the hotel to "suffer injuries to its business and property." Pot supporters say the lawsuits are unlikely to go anywhere.

lol a "planned" shop is causing harm to a Holiday Inn?! really??!! oh lordy. Maybe this will push the federal gov't to actually make a change and reclassify….or could it kill the new pot freedom?

A bit crass isn't it nemesystem? I don't think the Holiday Inn has much chance, mostly cause they're just up the road from Breckenridge ski resort, who've embraced cannabis. However, cannabis tourists also don't have to smoke in their rooms if they're not supposed to be, just go to sites like http://travelthc.com and book a room, or house.

If you don't like the smell of weed you probably shouldn't visit Amsterdam either. I call it "The smell of Freedom". That smell is strongest when visitors are out on the balcony smoking, not in the room. You will pay a stiff penalty if your room smells of weed.

There's a certain arrogance of the weed smoker which I find a little unpalatable . Might not sit comfortably but it's a minority pursuit and I understand why the smell pisses some people off . Personally , i prefer the smell to other forms of smoke but I don't want it in a hotel space that I've paid for . I don't find that unreasonable .

Also, the smell varies across strains and can sometimes smell like cat piss. If people don't want to smell it, they shouldn't have to put up with it in a room they've paid for.

yeah…but the Holiday Inn is complaining about a shop that IS ABOUT to open down the street. There is NO way that is interferring with their business. AND if they were concerned they should have attended the public zoning meetings.

I saw somewhere else that a boycott of Holiday Inn has begun by stoners.

what is needed are better air purification/filters in rooms (especially in legal states) and actual fresh air in hotel rooms! Geez in the majority of hotel rooms in the US the windows do not open, no wonder they can easily stink of weed or anything else!

I enjoy marihuana when the mood takes me and I'm opposed to oppressive drug laws but this is the sort of thing that makes me hoot with derision and howl with laughter .

We have a dog food factory in the north of the city. Some days when driving through the area the smell makes my stomach turn. I never considered suing them. One of the places that I live when I was a kid there was a big paper mill and it stunk like hell, I never boycotted paper or considered suing them. It is not allowed to smoke in hotel rooms here. You are allowed to inspect the room before you pay and commit. The smoking mentioned above is outside and people still complain. Arrogantly I say Fuck them.

There used to be a sheep tannery in the town where I live . The smell was a noxious , daily curse on residents .

Well , that was the end of sex for me , I can tell you .

Of all the foul smells that drift around city centres, a working brewery has to make the worst.

If the hotel has a no smoking policy then i'll respect that however if I'm smoking a joint outside with the rest of the tobacco smokers then I see no problem.

and about the smell.... fuck off if they don't like it. that sounds like more of a personal problem -shrugs

I don't like the smell of burnt tobacco but you don't see me complaining about people who smoke.

Srincha (spelling?) the popular chinese hot sauce was targeted months ago because the neighbors didn't like the smell.

Many times over the years, apartment dwellers in NYC have complained due to smells from restaurants.

People of all kinds complain about all kinds of smells all the time.

Today they don't like the smell of cannabis.
Tomorrow, they will complain about the smell of BBQ ribs.
