April 28th - Arrival Day - The Report

Postby lctricity » Sun May 16, 1:45 pm

It’s about 6:15am as we make our final descent below the clouds and I’m able to catch my first glimpse of The Netherlands coast. Not too bad of a day weather-wise, It looks like they had some rain but it’s only partly cloudy now. The temps are in the 60’s. Touch down smoothly and wait for the entire plane to unload before I’m allowed to make my way off. Clear the gate and there’s RealDeal2004 waiting. I thought to myself, “What a guy.”. We make our way to the nearest ATM and are then off to Passport Services. With a, “What is the purpose of your visit to Holland?” and a “How long are you staying?” it took all of 30 seconds to clear that part of entry.

Now where is the damn train? After a wrong turn or two, a little backtracking and a question or two we found the train to Centraal. Having absolutely no clue where 1st or 2nd Class is we just head up to the highest deck and grab seats in a car with only one other guy! We’re both laughing at the fact that we have no clue! We’re off! Man, are these the quietest trains ever or what? You could have literally heard a pin drop in this car. We had to have been in 1st Class on retrospect. Lucky for us there was no conductor checking tickets. We relish in our first sights of Amsterdam even though they are apartment complexes and graffiti for the most part. The train stops twice and on the 2nd stop being anxious as can be I ask the other guy in the car if this is Centraal Station. He smiles and says “No, It’s the next stop.”

We arrive at the next stop and it is indeed the infamous Centraal Station!! We are officially; Whoo- Hoo!! We make our way through the bowels of the Station to the East side where I know there is a luggage locker waiting for me to dump my bags until later. No problems getting this dealt with either. 3.25 and we’re on the way to find RealDeal’s hotel.

Walking through the largely deserted streets towards the RLD we make our way to Zeedijk. After passing lots of Thai and Chinese Restaurants we wander around the immediate area and finally find Warmoesstraat and the White Tulip Hotel. I got a kick out of the fact that it was right across the street from the CockRing and right next door to a Gay Porn Shop!! LOL; I don’t think RealDeal2004 found the humor in the situation at this point.

It’s about 8:10am and we’re now off to Central Coffeeshop for our meeting with jjk4h. We make it to our meet around 8:30am and upon rounding the corner to the right of the shop entrance we are greeted with the sweet familiar scent of Cannabis. Once inside we find jjk4h seated at a small table next to the wall. Greeting us with a very comfortably stoned smile we proceed to get down to business. The familiar wooden box that I’ve read so much about online and a plethora of strains to choose from is beckoning from the dealers counter. We make our way over and I settle on 2.5 grams of Royale for 12.50, this looks great, is supposed to be a Indica/Sativa Cross and I’d never heard of it so what the hell. It was indeed tasty too. RealDeal2004 settled on s similar sized bag of K2, which had an amazing scent and high and jjk4h had already purchased a small bag of Bio Skunk which was the first thing we hit off of. Nice weed but I don’t know about Skunk? I was actually never able to find anything that compared to the true Skunk I smoked back in the 80’s. None of it had that strong Skunk smell that was so special.

Cool! We’re set. Sitting at our table with our purchases watching the town come to life through the window with the sun peaking through the clouds. What great way to start a trip! I had not finished rolling the first joint when a couple of guys from Chicago sat at the table behind us and wanted to know if we could roll. I said “No Problem!” and he proceeded to give me his entire 2.5 gram bag of some killer White Russian. I had told myself I would save Indicas for the night…. Well, that was out the window in no time flat as I began puffin’ away on the the sweet indicas that lay before me. Mmmmmm, so tasty too. These guys from Chicago had an hour to get to the airport and catch a flight to India. I twisted one for them to take for the road and explained that they should be discreet when smoking in public and not to smoke in the airport or on the train. They left very happy and high and I was a little worried that they might run into some trouble with their freewheeling attitudes. Off they went though, as we all just looked at each other and smiled while continuing to pass around these incredibly tasty doobs!

After getting sufficiently high we made our way to Damrak to find an Easy Internet Café. Having never used one all three of us were clueless. We sat and watched others buying their tickets and make their way to the computer terminals. After a few minutes of this and still being confused I just broke down and asked the guy at the Counter. Buy a ticket, punch in the number, set a password and you’re off. While I checked in with everyone at home the guys took a stroll to grab a bite to eat. Too fucking cool! We’re in the Dam stoned too the bone and lovin’ it! We made our way down Damrak after about a half an hour online. Found The Old Man headshop and stocked up on a few supplies such as scissors and a rolling machine (which proved useless). Their glass pipes were neither impressive or affordable so I figured I’d check Interpolm Growshop at a later time upon the advice of Blueberry. She was right too; Great little handblown pipes for 7.50. Schweet!!

Made our way down to Sensi Seeds only to find that we were there early and they were still closed. This must have been a little before 11am. We headed to Sensi Seeds CS and proceeded to get our buzzes back to proper levels. Nice place to chill and smoke up although they do not sell weed there. No problem as we had plenty between the 3 of us. After a few doobs and teas it was about 11:30am we decided to head to Grey Area as I had set up to meet another Channelite there at Noon. Once again we arrived a bit early and decided to take a stroll towards Spui. This turned out to be a much longer stroll than anticipated so we turned around and headed back to Grey Area and made it there about ten minutes after opening.

Grey Area was another place I had been dreamin’ of for a long time and I was thrilled to see John working behind the counter. What a nice guy! Introduced myself and it was too funny that there were 5 names starting with “J’s”. Myself, James, Jim, Jim, Joe and John, we all had a good laugh about this and proceeded to make our purchases. I was set on Grey Mist Crystals and the other guys got Bubble #5, which is a very sweet new strain for GA. Procuring a bong from behind the counter we commenced to appreciating Grey Area for all it was worth. We grabbed the table in the corner by the window and loaded up some straight Bubble #5 followed by Bubble #5 with Grey Mist Crystals. What a nice high we achieved. We were all so comfortable and happy that I think we would have melted into our seats if it weren’t for the fact that the place became instantly crowded when 6or 7 other people ended up walking in. We’d had our time and decided to give our spot to those who had just arrived and made our way back down the street. BTW, Kevin from the Channels Forum ended up being a no show, but we smoked a few hits for him anyhow.

It was getting to be about 1pm or so and RealDeal2004 was starting to feel the jetlag so decided on a Siesta while jjk4h and I went in search of more smokeables. After making a quick stop by Hotel The Crown, jjk43h’s home for the week, we headed over to Route 66 and had the place to ourselves outside of a decent but not overly polite female bartender and another customer at the bar. She was decent enough to allow me a picture even though they were selling menus for 5 a pop. One word of advice on Route 66, avoid the bathroom at all costs. This was by far the most disgusting thing I saw during my whole stay in this fine country. A toilet filled to the brim with feces and a stench that made me instantly want to hurl. I barely made it out without doing just that. After that experience that hash was a little less enjoyable than I would have hoped for. I ended having much better but for the price it was alright. Getting to be about 2:30pm so I decide to roll back to Centraal Station, grab my bags and tram it down to Hotel Abba down by Vondelpark. We agree to hook up at Hunters Bar around 7pm for further smoking festivities.

Get checked in and make my way down to Tweedy CS, located a block from the hotel. The shop itself is small, dark and uninteresting but the Dreaded man behind the counter hooked me up on some fine Moroc Polm. Ended up running into the same customer that was at Route 66 earlier and we exchanged greetings before I left. Strolled around the area and found it to be quite charming in the area adjacent to the park. Got back to the hotel and settled in before tramming it back up to the RLD around 7pm for the Hunters meet.

Arrived at Hunters Bar with the party in full swing. Pulled up a stool at the bar and proceeded to partake in an amazing Amnesia Haze doob that was making it’s way around. This stuff was from someone who had an in with a local grower and this was indeed proof that many of the Coffeeshops’ stash doesn’t hold up in comparison. Saw Dapanther99 down at the other end of the bar and made my way down to meet him. The man was ready to party as he whipped out a ton of little baggies and proceeded to start the sampling with some amazing Crystal Haze from Rookies, AK-47 from Barney’s and an AK47 Pre-Roll that he had left from Dampkring. After all this a thick accented Brit taps me on the should and it’s budsulike2!! He had made it earlier than his mates but was down with the party even though he was recovering from some type of bronchial cold. Poor guy. We did some serious sampling here including Poison from Picasso, Buddah’s Sister from Hunters, Mothers Finest from Pink Floyd and a few other things that I failed to write down. Dapanther99 should have notes that are a little more detailed for this meet. After an hour or two of smoking we decided we’d take stroll through the RLD with jjk4h leading the way at a breakneck pace. Somehow about a half an hour or hour into the jaunt we ended up at Old Church with no RealDeal2004 in tow. We had managed to lose him somewhere along the way but after waiting around for a bit to see if he’d show we all made our way to Old Church CS and proceeded to get baked to the nines smoking bowls and joints of various strains we’d collected. Among many other items we ended up smoking a Bubble #5 with Old Church Ice Hash joint and was the best tasting joint of the entire trip imo. Outside of losing RealDeal2004 this had been one helluva successful first day and evening in the Dam. As I hoofed it back to my hotel at 1am my legs were killing me but I had a huge grin on my face knowing I had many moons to come in this great land.

Here are a few pics I figured I'd go ahead and post to Yahoo! even though they kill the resolution. It's easy and free. Check 'em out! Weit pics to come soon on a real server. Look in the folder "Amsterdam 2004"
