FLASHBACK - Sept 2003 - Christiania/Amsterdam - Part 2 of 2

Postby viking » Sun May 09, 4:38 pm

OK, here's the Amsterdam part.

Sun. 14 Sept 2003 - Well, if my travel notes seemed like
kiddy scrawl for the Danish part of my holiday, they've gotten
even harder to decipher as the Amsterdam part starts!

After checking into my hotel it
looks like I hit Bluebird to buy some more dark hash to post to
my Parisian friend. Mazar-I-Sharif Pollen (.7g/12e)and some
Super Afghan (2.2g/12e)
Didn't try either, but he said he liked them both, along with the
Nepal Pollen from Christiania (which I did enjoy), and some
dark Nepal Temple (1.7g/12e) from Rusland (which I also enjoyed.)

After Bluebird it was off to Rusland where I bought the Nepal
and some Super Pollen Maroc (1.3g/12e). My notes about
the Super Pollen Maroc read, "Only half as potent as
Super Super Maroc (in Christiania) and three times the price!"
Settled in at Rusland for a while and had a delicious ham
and cheese tosti, jasmine green tea, and a banana milkshake.
My notes say I also bought some Silver Pearl weed (?) for
1.7g/12e, but why I would do that, I don't know.

I know I roamed around a lot and hit some more shops, but
didn't write anything else for the day.

Mon. 15 Sept.- Only entry mentions dinner at Cafe/bar Canaletto behind
my hotel for my favorite soup, Straciatella (I think it's a beef
broth with an egg stirred into it, plus some other "stuff"),
and a yummy pizza.

Tues. 16 Sept - I call my friend Echo from the Smokers Guide Board
who's in town visiting her Dutch boyfriend. Echo is the "queen" of the
Smokers Guide Board and was the driving force in the SGF March 2003 Cup.
We agree to meet at the T-Boat at 4pm. I head on over to Siberie and
spend 1 to 3 there, getting to like their Super Polm, Amsterdam
Delight, and Honey hashes (Enough of the prices and weights already.)

I get to the T-Boat at 3:50 and sit on a bench right outside. The T-Boat's
been closed for a long time, and I figured that Echo and her boyfriend
would meet me outside of it. I wait until 4:50, toking nonstop on the
bench, and then head on back to my hotel. I get to my hotel
and Echo calls me wondering where I am? Seems her boyfriend
has an office on the T-Boat and they were waiting for me
on board. Rats. We agree to meet at The Noon at 8pm.
Echo buys 2 grams each of Blueberry and Blueberry Haze at The
Noon and we head to her favorite bar on Spuistraat. It's called
"Schuim" (Scum, hehe) and is very much a locals only hangout.

She explains that the entire bar's decor is completely changed
every month(?) and that you never know what the place is going
to look like when you visit. Her boyfriend explains that they were
closed for quite a while as they ripped up all the flooring to get a handle
on an out-of-control fruit fly problem. Seems the little buggers were
breeding below the floorboards and coming out in clouds:)

The place is really cool and I don't see a tourist in sight, unless
I pass a mirror. We sit and drink draft beer and proceed to smoke
up our stashes. My notes say I shared an all Blueberry Haze joint
of Echo's which I thought was "weak". Then we burned up three
Christiania-style cones of mine, which had them both coughing
a bit. We also sampled some Amsterdam Delight and Super Pollen
from Siberie, and some Nepal Temple from Rusland. I was still
ready to toke and pulled out some Bubble Hash #2 from de Dampkring
(there's one of the shops I visited which I didn't write down!).
Echo actually found this to be "uplifting", which I thought was funny:)

While at Schuim, these three amazing Dutch women roll in, and I
mean "roll". They look like three super models and they're all on
old-fashioned roller skates. Looks like they just rolled offstage
from that cheesy Andrew Lloyd Webber roller skating musical
show, Starlight Express. How they were able
to get down Spuistraat with it all ripped up and those boardwalks
set up, I'll never know. All three of us are staring at these Dutch
beauties as they roll on over to a table to greet a friend. One of
them is wearing a short, short, short blue sequined dress which
stops north of the lower part of her attractive little butt.
But wait, it gets better. As she gets to the table, her back's to
us and she bends over to greet her friend. Her dress rides up
and she flashes her whole ass at us. She's either wearing a thong
we can't see, or nothing at all:) Now that's what I call Dutch art.
We all look at each other and just grin.

Back in my hotel room I manage to singe off the center
sections of both my eyebrows! Somehow my lighter got
set to "flamethrower" and when I went to light up a little
short pipe - Fwoom! Good thing one's eyelids snap
shut in a hurry, ha!

Wed 17 Sept - Daytrip to Haarlem. Notes are getting fewer
and fewer as I smoke more and more. Did a W.W. Sativa
to W.W. Sensemilla to W.W. Sativa run. Skipped W.W.
Indica for some reason. Was my first visit to the Sensemilla
and I really enjoyed it. Stopped in at eXtreme coffeeshop
when I got back to the Dam and bought some of their Ice-X.
Then it was off to Siberie to meet up with someone who
I'd been wanting to meet for a long time - BlueBerry!

BlueBerry and Dave stroll in at 10:15pm and we
grab a table close to the webcam and all start to
smoke up a storm. (Their webcam picture was much
better back then than it is now, and you could really
be seen quite well if you got the right seat. Now their
picture's too dark and the cam's not pointed as well.)

BlueBerry had some tasty Stella Blue from Anyday and
she was happy smoking that while I toked up on hash -
Primero, Nederland skuff from the W.W shops, the Ice-X,
and some Casa Blanca from Siberie.

Here I need some help from BlueBerry. Was this the night we
went back to your apartment and we all
sat on the back porch toking and listening to the chimes
from the Westerkerk's tower? You guys complained about
how those chimes kept you awake, but I remember waiting
to hear the different tune that would play each quarter hour
and thinking how cool they sounded:) After hearing each
quarter hour's tune, it was back to the hotel for me.

Thurs 18 Sept - 11:53am - Glued to a bench on the canal
that runs down the side of the Rijksmuseum. 2 grams
of Ice-X first thing in the morning had me staring at the
side of the museum smiling my face off:) Then it was
down the canal to de Kabouter. This was my first visit
to the shop and I just stumbled across it. Glad I did, as
their King Hassan light maroc became my second favorite
hash of the whole trip, only the Super Super Maroc in
Christiania beat it. From then on I would start most days
with a purchase of 5 grams of it (8.30e/g). This is a "locals"
shop and my notes say things like, "main theme here - gnomes!",
"nice latino music at sane volume", "coffee fresh as hell!"
Hit Katsu next for some Water Hash and Crystal Clear Hash.
Then it was off to the Noon to meet BlueBerry where I bought some
Noon Ice. Stopped at de Dampkring, too for some King Mohammed
and Ataram Cream. We must have fun that day BB, as my notes
don't say anything else!

Fri 19 Sept- Six Flags of Holland!

Trip to Six Flags takes 2 hours from when you leave
Centraal Station. Train to Lelystad, then a bus to the park.
Roundtrip, 2nd class ticket train ticket cost 13.10 euro.
Combo bus/park entrance fee ticket an additional 22 euro,
or 35.10 total. Not too bad.

Notes read that I started out my day toking in my hotel room
before heading to Centraal. Silver haze mixed with Noon Ice,
and some of the Water Hash from Katsu. Then it was multiple
Js smoked enroute to the park; while waiting for the train and
bus, and outside of park before heading in. One made with
Primero hash from Haarlem, then "several" from King Hassan mixed
with Noon Ice. Kept right on toking inside the park, too:)

Park was nearly empty, as it was a Friday and school had started
back up. No lines for any of the rides. Found a great place to
sit and toke right near a soft ijs concession stand near my
favorite roller coaster, the Robin Hood all-wooden coaster.
I sat at a table near some bushes, far away from the stand and
the people walking by and just toked peacefully for quite a
while. Since the park was so empty, I even toked while walking
around, since you could see people coming at you from far away
and just cup the J in your hand.

While on the Robin Hood, my sunglasses managed to worm their
way out my buttoned shirt pocket on the last hill. Damn!
Saw them as they flew over my shoulder. Oh, well, at least
they were just cheap $3 non-prescription ones. I bought
a pair I like even better the next day at the Albert Cuypstraat
market for only 3.5 euro:)

Back on the train to Amsterdam, I could not find my train ticket
when the conductor asked for it! I was emptying every pocket and
searching through every part of my dayback. It finally fell out
of my little travel notebook where I had put it "so I wouldn't
forget":)

At 7pm I strolled into Siberie thinking maybe I'd cross paths
with BlueBerry, queen of their webcam:) She wasn't there, but
I hung around for a while and chatted with one of the regulars,
Dirk. He and I played several rounds of Martian pinball and
had a great time. I often see him on the Siberie cam, sitting
reading the paper and smoking his hash/tobac joints. We both
like to roll them with Siberie's Casa Blanca light maroc. My
notes also say I was toking on Ataram Cream from de Dampkring
and I wrote, "potent, stinky stuff". Ha!

The day's notes end with the following:
"23:33 in bed. About to try Crystal Clear hash from Katsu.
Seems smoother than their Water Hash. Whoa, does have very
strong aftertaste upon exhalation. Very strange taste, not
sure I like it. Oh well, let's hit again!"
(I was smoking it straight from my pipe, not in a joint.)
"The Casa Blanca at Siberie today was quite nice. Very
pleasant burn & taste & effect."

Sat. 20 Sept- notes get fewer and fewer.
Looks like I stopped in at de Kabouter at 1pm to buy more
King Hassan. Surprise! Then it jumps to 9pm and I'm
back in Siberie with BlueBerry. Bought 3 grams of Casa
Blanca and a gram of Warme Oortjes.

Sun. 21 Sept- back in Siberie with BB at 1:45pm where
I bought a gram of their Viking weed for 3.70euro.
BB didn't care for the toasted tobac in my Js, so I
figured I'd buy some weed to roll a couple weed/hash
ones I could share with her. I just had to try a weed
named "Viking":) Man, it was true schwag, blech!
We were in de Kuil at 4:30pm and I got my first taste
of a vapo bag:) BlueBerry was vaporizing up a storm,
first Siberian Tiger, then some Stella Blue. We shared
ten bags (5 from each sample?). I was toking on a steady
supply of my Christiania-style Js all the while, too,
twsting them up with some fine Carmello from de Kuil.
Man, talk about heavy ingestion of thc! We were definitely
feeling no pain:)

BlueBerry, was this the time that the police (6 of them?)
came into de Kuil's to check their stock? Whenever it was,
BB and I were smoking up a storm and a bunch of police came
in and spent at least 30 minutes going through the dealer's
wares. We kept right on toking, but their presence did keep
the dealer from using the vaporizer where BB had some weed
ready to go. I remember one of the lady cops coming over
and giving everything we had on the table a "look-see".
I was puffing away and almost offered her a drag, but didn't.
Wish I had:) It was cool to toke with a policewoman at your
side and not having to worry about being arrested and dragged
away.

At 7pm I was in Paradox, waiting for BB to arrive. We had been
to Softland and she was going to ride her bike to Paradox
while I walked. Now, I have no real memory of being in Softland,
but I actually entered the fact into my notebook and BB says
I liked the place, remarking I felt it was being inside a
spaceship. (Guess I'll have to go back!) I do remember
traversing the boardwalks on ripped-up Spuistraat. Have I
mentioned I'd been toking a wee bit this day? Anyway,
BB got lost on her way to Paradox and never showed up. I
bought 2 grams of their Top A hash and used their bathroom
before they closed up at the strangely early time of 8pm.
I headed toward her apartment on Reestraat, but didn't find
Reestraat as it changes name and I was traveling on the wrong
crossstreet. Went back to hotel and toked into dreamland.

Mon. 22 Sept- Hit Tops cs for their computers and spent the
morning roaming around smoking Bubble Hash and Super Super
Polm. Checked in at Siberie at 2:30, no BB, bought some
Amsterdam Delight hash. Rented a bike at Frederic's right
near Siberie and headed for de Pijp, determined to finally
find Yoyo's. Actually found it with no problem. Nice, bright,
airy place with lots of windows and an all-organic weed/hash
menu. They only had one hash item on it, Baalbeck, 1.6g/10e.
I bought some of that and proceeded to roll a C-style J.
Oh no! I was out of ciggies and they didn't sell them in the
shop. Nice dealer lady directed me to a nearby tobacconist's
and I was back shortly and sat and enjoyed a leisurely J without
a tourist in sight. (Unlike when Gidget recently visited, the
neighborhood kids were all outside playing soccer, not inside
the shop!)

Headed out on my bike, enjoying the nice bike lanes and just
tooling around. Stopped in at Siberie at 6pm, no BB:(
I bought more of their Amsterdam Delight and proceeded to kill
some more Martians and ended up breaking the pinball machine!
Got the ball hung up out of sight somewhere. Frustrating.
Stopped by BB's apt., but she wasn't there. It had started
raining heavily when I left Siberie, too hard to ride in, and
I ducked under some scaffolding that was covering the front of
some building. Can't ride, might as well toke! (I always try
to have 3 or 4 C-style cones rolled up and ready to burn, for
emergencies like this.) I sat on my bike and leisurely toked
away and then an electric garage door sprang to life right
beside me! Scared the hell out of me, too. I scooted forward
a few feet to get out of the way, staying under cover. As I
turn my head to see what's pulling out, burning J in my hand,
out rolls a police car with two policemen in it. They take no
notice of me and drive away into the rain. I move further up
the sidewalk and damn if I'm not just past a second garage
door which rolls up and another cop car comes out. I start
to giggle and am glad I'm in Amsterdam and not America!
Finally the rain subsides and I head back to the hotel, afraid
it may start again.

Tues. 23 Sept.- In Siberie again at 1pm, hoping BB will show
up, smoking on Warme Oortjes and Casa Blanca and playing
pinball again. Seems my attack on the Martians was not
fatal. BlueBerry strolls in at 3pm, yippee! More webcam
time, more Amsterdam Delight and Casa Blanca for me, and then we
head off to Kashmir Lounge for BB's first visit there.

Got to Kashmir at 6pm where we were lucky enough to grab
a nice spot in a pillow pit. I brought lots of hash with,
as I had been disappointed in their hash menu in the past,
although my notes say that their hash offerings looked better
this time. BB collects cs lighters and there was a vending
machine selling Kashmir Lounge ones down in the basement
by the bathrooms. I decided to buy one for her, but the machine
was an old one that only took guilders. The nice dealer kept
guilders on hand for use in the machine and I traded a few
euro coins for some and headed back downstairs. Of course
the machine didn't work, but the dealer was kind enough
to leave his counter, go downstairs with me, open a storage
closet and break open a big box of lighters. He gave
me two, and I don't think he even asked for any money.
Nice guy, indeed. BB was most appreciative.

We both got a laugh when I got up from the pillow pit and
I found myself trailing a piece of yarn. I had snagged
a pillow somehow and was walking away with this strand
of yarn attached to me as it unraveled from a pillow.
Those pits are so damn comfortable that they don't want
to let you go!

We hit Co-co's Outback in the Rembrandtplein for dinner
where I had their excellent kangaroo steak. Now, if
only we had known that there was a toking section!!
I didn't discover this until my visit there this past
March. Cool as hell and I know BB and I are going to
burn and eat there in September!

By 8:20 we were at Stix on Utrechtstraat. BB had to stock
up on their Gunpowder crystals:) It was my first visit there
and I also stocked up on Gunpowder as well as some of
their Carmello.

Even in our foggy state, we prudently decided to decide
on some meetup times for the next two days and I wrote
them in my book.

Wed. 24 Sept.- Met BB at The Noon at 1pm and we waited
for Puffin13 to show up. I bought a gram of Blueberry
Ice for 27euros and BB mixed it up with some Greyberry.
Enjoyed meeting puffin13. A cool guy who has the extreme
good fortune to live in Amsterdam. Puffin, we are all
jealous!

BB and I made our way to Haarlem, via train, not bike.
Hit W.W. Sativa and Sensemilla. I really enjoyed the
pinball machine at Sensemilla, Medieval Madness. Then
it broke. I must be hell on pinball machines. We
also enjoyed the excellent sunporch there, too, and
hung out there in the nice weather for a while.

My notes don't mention it, but this must be the day we
had dinner at Wilma & Albert's. Yummy indeed.

By 9:30 we were back in Siberie.

After our goodbyes for the night, it was back to the
hotel and lots of Gunpwder for me before bed.

Thurs. 25 Sept.- BlueBerry's Birthday!!!

Hit Stix for more Gunpowder and then
met up with BB at Siberie at 3:40.
I just missed meeting Fatties Finest from the board
who had headed back to his hotel for a jetlag induced
nap.

We hit de Kuil where we toked and toked, in celebration
of BB's birthday:) Since I was leaving tomorrow,
I made my last gear purchase - a gram of
their 420 Skuff (handrolled charas).

We headed to Grey Area where John was working:)
The place was empty so we had a chance to sit
and chat with John. He dug out some nice buds for
BlueBerry, too. We told him we enjoyed seeing him
on The Insomniac show:)

Said my final goodbyes to BlueBerry. She's a true
smoker's friend. Always ready to toke, and eager
to get out and explore. A hell of a lot of fun, too.
BlueBerry, you're the greatest, sweetie:)

I was back in my hotel room by 8:30pm, trying to pack
and toke up as much gear as I could. Actually got to
bed by 12:30am, which was good since I had to get
up at 5:30am.

Smoked a bunch in the room in the morning and actually
made the 8:23am bus to Schipol from the Museumplein.
(Sadly, I discovered this March that this bus, #197,
no longer exists. #370 from Leidseplein has replaced
it. Probably more convenient for more people. Still
a good value at 5 strippenkaart strips each way.)

Stood at the busstop at Schipol, stop B3, and toked another
J, maybe two, before heading in for the long trip home.

Man, not much exciting reading in this report, I'm afraid.
Too bad!

If you've read my "March ramblings" report, you know
I was back in Amsterdam two months ago.

In September I'm doing another 3 week Christiania/Amsterdam
tour. Can hardly wait!!

BlueBerry, I sure hope you make it in September to
help me celebrate my lucky 13th visit to the city:)

ps My spelling has been checked by my personal

You did come back to the apartment with me but it was not that night according to my notes... And from the way your report looks for that day it is obvious you were more preoccupied with other things ;) than to be scribbling in your little black book!!! LOL

Now this is where you are seriously in need of help filling in Some of the Blanks ;)

We hooked up at the Siberie to smoke up in front of the webcam and naturally we closed the place,, heck the staff were practically pulling our chairs out from under us. So reluctantly we left and headed back towards Damrak to get something to snack on,,, the Munchies were hittin hard after toking up for almost 3 straight hours!!! We ended up at the frites place just down and around the corner from the Dekuil,,, we pondered going in for vapo bags afterwards but decided against it and instead we headed to my apartment. You was trippin on the place and how nice it was,,, not to mention the kick ass terrace with the ever so present chiming church tower!!! We had a blast laughing, talking and ummm,, oh yeah,,,, Toking on the Terrace ;)

viking wrote:Then it was off to the Noon to meet BlueBerry where I bought some Noon Ice. Stopped at de Dampkring, too for some King Mohammed and Ataram Cream. We must have fun that day BB, as my notes don't say anything else!

You know,,, it's kinda funny that my notes stopped during our escapade for that day as well... It just simply says 'meet up with viking at the Noon' and then at the bottom.,,,, stayed up until 4 am smoking on the terrace and packaging up hash :))

viking wrote:My notes don't mention it, but this must be the day we

Right on viking,,, no daytrip to Haarlem is complete without a visit to Wilma & Alberts.. Yummy Indeedy :))

If you think we had fun last September, just wait til this one!!!
In addition to a Coffeeshop Safari to places far outside the
"tourist zone", we will do a Pijp crawl hitting de Kabouter,
Club Media, de Keeper, Katsu, Yoyo, and Greenhouse Tolstraat,
perhaps even more:)

And a big thanks for filling the missing details:)

What a smokefest

Sounds like it was lucky you could even write in the book. That is a whole load of smoking Viking. AND, as usual I love a report that has multiple trips to Siberie in them. Goodness, I miss the Siberie. (Less than 35 days and I will be back there again.... Provided my phone stops ringing.)
What a wonderful adventure you had Viking. It also sounds like you are hell on them Pinball machines,,,LOL...
Fantastic report, and I really enjoyed it. The toking force was with you..:)
Best Regards,
LH

BTW,,, OHD, If you three guys in your avatar move over, you will see me in the window of the Grey Area.. :)
