We are returning to our city of dreams
And it feels like a dream
Shrouded in a ever thickening mystery of memories
On the plane the clouds were exceptional
Multiple levels of clouds all moving with differing intent and colors
Clouds covering a Mythical land over Ireland
Mimicking castles and leprechaun homes
Then there were Those flat wedge white bread sliced clouds
At the shore the clouds look like waves
I love sunrise on the airplane!
It was one of those paintings where with one glance you are certain you could repaint that.... Stripes of color so perfectly set
From Black to red bleeding into pink, lite blue, dark blue
The red was like a streak of blood it was so brilliant
There were Horizontal stripes of varying hues
Not three minutes later, a complete change
Pink to an aqua only seen in swimming pools then grey, and baby blue
Then almost like a glass shattering - the sun burst thru
Shooting streams of light, orange, fuscia, irredescent sparkling shards
So brilliant it invited you to witness and blinded you, if you dared
Landing was a dive thru thick cotton clouds that turned into an endless race towards earth. I marveled at the trust it would take to keep heading down.
With only some dials to describe reality. It was grey and raining! Sweet!
Even though it is busy and crowded, there always seems to be a calm that envelopes the airport. we sale thru without fuss.
Get to the boat. We are staying on the same boat as last year. there is something unique about coming back to a place where you have stayed before. Both familiar and yet different. We are Deliriously tired. But we unpack, organize ourselves and then Stroll off to Barney's for bud and breakfast.
Most noticeable: all of the new boats. Sleek floating home boats.
You can see the writing is on the wall, the transformation has begun, it may take some time...still....Slowly but directly the artistic and funky will give way to something that looks more like a home for the upper echelon
Cursed change
Don't the wealthy eventually always take over the really cool spots?
the early morning rain completed it's mission.
Came back to the boat to do a bit of website maintenance and had all kinds of issues with the wifi on the boat. Eventually all worked out, did the work, took a nap and met Winnie for a 4:20 break at Paradox. The redo is quite nice. the bar has been extended a brick wall exposed. new covers on the corner seat. but the mural was left untouched and the painted tables and chairs remain. By about 7:30 we decided we were hungry so took the dog (oh yeah - he's With us - He is 6 years old now and this is his 7th trip to Mokum! ) back to the boat to drop off the dog and then over to La Perla for pizza. La Perla bought the little grocery store that was across the street and now they have more options for seated service. It was crowded. Very crowded. We were told no tables for at least an hour. Winnie and I sat outside on the bench weighing our food options. The mate went back to the la perla restaurant - talking to the manager. Winnie asked, what was he up to: I said he is charming us a table. ( with words, not with bribery) He came back to rejoin us and within 5 minutes we were eating and drinking. They served up a huge delicious salad, olives, bread and wine. Then our pizzas arrived. It was a perfect evening plenty of laughter and good conversation.
Life is good.
We are here.
