Koopa,
Thanks for the interesting list.
I understand that this was an abbreviated report, and I certainly hope a more extended report follows. I would be curious about your reactions to all the coffeeshops you visited. Could be a great report... I hope.

i was in town the same time
i took a few pics, but couldn't be bothered writing down prices, names, shops
hell, i'm lucky if i matched up these correctly
a few that stood out;

-cheesel (don't remember the spelling): grey area
-blueberry: mellow yellow
-pineapple haze: amnesia
-blueberry cheese: the greenplace (?)
-snow white: siberie
-edelweiss: siberie

-golden soles: grey area
-nepal: grey area, siberie, amnesia

random weirdness factor for this trip;
grey area was open--and often seating--everytime i passed by!
(except for that one time at 2am)
i mention this because on my last visit, we never found it open.
and we kept going back again, and again...
luck of the draw

And I thought this only happened to me?

I have visited AMS at least a dozen times over the past 10 - 15 years.
Up until my most recent visit in April, I had read many reports extolling the virtues of the Grey Area, however, each and every time I visited the Dam, Grey Area was ALWAYS Closed. Until my visit in April.

Finally it was open. I actually entered the Grey Area, purchased some weed and sat at a table and had a smoke.

Nice enough weed, (I had the Greyberry; nothing extraordinary)
but I fail to see what all the fuss is about regarding Grey Area.

I think because it's owned by an American (or so I'm told) it is special, but fuck man, I don't see what the fuss is about most places or weed. To me, if it gets me high and tastes good, it's good, if it doesn't, it's shit. I like aplace with good music and good seats and that's about it.

i sort of agree. Jon is a personable enough chap (from Rhode Island); I never met Steve (the bald asshole?). For me it was quality gear and amazing "trichromes" which is what they used to vcall the "grey mist crystals". This used to be the only place in centruum that carried them...mmmmmm unpressed hasj!.

I've had gear at Grey Area that blew me away, and then I've had stuff that was just so so. Pretty much like Dampkring, Katsu, and the others. I have to say everything I got from the Green Place was excellent, though.

That being said, I bought the strong'ns there - LA Conf., Trainwreck and OG Kush, but even the AK47 I got there was as good as the price.

Great weed report, and I totally agree with your first 2 'cuz I tried them. Thanks, koop.

Talk about underwhelming: Grey Area is a fucking over-hyped shithole.

Who cares if Willie and Woody smoked in that place?

Yet the fucking Yanks line up like obedient little lemmings everyday before noon.

It makes perfect sense, when one thinks about the sheer comedy of the entire charade; American pot tourists yearning to go to a land where they can smoke marijuana freely, and all they can think of is going to the "coffeeshop-that-is-owned-by-some-dude-from-the-U.S."

Lining up early, in fact.

Utterly dismayed if they fail to make the pilgrimmage on a given trip to the NL.

Laugh all you want you shit stirring moron.

I have been to Amsterdam many times over the years.

If you were able to read & comprehend my entire story, it was the FIRST TIME I ever set foot in the Grey Area. And I wasn't overly impressed either.

My poor soul...let me explain:

Yes, I too have been to the Netherlands - including Amsterdam - many times.

(If I say "many" twice, will it help reinforce the point?)

I have been to the Netherlands - including Amsterdam - many many times.

I did read the entire story.

Actually, we are in agreement, although my emphatic display proved too much for you to bear.

Nevertheless, I do laugh. I will continue to laugh.

Whether I decide to stir shit or not.

Cheers.

So then we agree. Your comments about American tourists and the Grey Area were completely ill informed and ridiculous.

Glad we cleared that up.

Right on the $$ NYNY..... Thanks for getting that cleared up for us!

As a "fucking Yank", I don't go to the GA because it's owned by some American dude - I personally can care less about who owns the place.... All I care about is the gear and the smoking atmosphere, over the years I have had some good conversations with people while sharing a table.....

Got some really good smoke there before and some just OK stuff. For me, I go back and "line up" every time I'm in Amsterdam mainly for the trichromes, love sprinkling that stuff in my joints :-)

Personally, my favorites in AMS are DeKuil, Tweede Kamer and anyplace I can get the "good" as my brother in law refers to it. Basically each trip I take to AMS I always visit these two shops and then go to others and peruse the menu.

For instance, in December 2008 I found a place called Resin I had never been to before. It had some awesome hasj from Pakistan. However, when I returned for a brief stay in April 2009, Resin was closed.
