Cheap hotels/ decent hostels in N.Y

Postby Generous_J » Tue Jul 22, 6:07 pm

Im going to go to N.Y this, or next, weekend.

Anybody have any reccomendations for either
a) Cheap but decent hotels, centrally located
b) Decent hostels; private rooms, central.

Danke schon,
J

Hi J,

Hotel Gershwin

Cheap that's relative, what is your price range?
They may very well be full.

I guess i wouldnt want to spend more then about 70/80 Bucks a night?

Thanks for the two options there.

I had heard of the Gerschwin before but then forgot about it.
Its booked up - shame, it looks awesome.
Might go with the YMCA option...
Cheaply, cheaply!

Hi J,

With that budget, i think your best option is this:

http://www.carltonarms.com/

I've stayed there. Perfect. Try to book well in advance.

Right near where I live J.

If you were nicer, I might of even offered some places to go, or to eat.

Chichi, if you came to visit NYC I would roll out the welcome mat.

We might have a little problem with your husband however. He doesn't seem to like me (said with a tear in the eye).

I like you just fine. I don't care much for your online persona...do your best to distinguish between the two concepts

Have you forgotten some of the Horrible things your online persona has said to mine?

Thanks Hobie. I will probably be up in RI over Labor Day if you are around, I will give you a call.

I had no quarrel with either Boneymaroni nor Generous J, until they started callling me names.

Not sensitive at all J. Just don't like being insulted.

Keep your insults to yourself and we are fine.

J,

In the spirit of friendship, if you stay at the Carlton Arms, there are a few cheap places to eat in the neighborhood.

Pick a Bagel at 23rd and 3rd has great bagels, coffee etc. for breakfast.

If you like Indian food, Lexington Avenue from about 30th to 25th street has loads of relatively cheap Indian restaurants. (My favorite is called "Curry in a Hurry" on 28th and Lexington).

There is a coffee shop on 23rd and 2nd Avenue called Cosmos that is open 24 hours if you are out late.

If you travel down below 14th street, the best Italian bakery in the World IMHO is called Veneiro's at 11th street and 1st Avenue.

There is also a polish restaurant that serves pretty good comfort food called Christine's between 12th & 13th streets on 1st Avenue.

All of these places are inexpensive places to eat with tasty food.

The YMCA on 34th street should suit you Generous. Its full of gays and theres a closet in everyroom if you want to crawl inside and go back into denial.

Yes it seems kind of funny that he knows that there are gays there. I guess we know the truth now. Mac The Bitch is a flaming faggot.

If you read the last line on the Room Rates page it states: "We use the softest hand-woven Costa Rican toilet tissue (something you'll remember us for in years to come." Sounds like it could be dangerous on the anus.

Also, this is a thread about accommodations in NYC. No reason to throw out derogitory phrases like "flaming faggot". That's a sign of immaturity.

Does that Carlton Arms remind anyone else of the Winston in A'dam?
We stayed at the Cosmopolitan close to the WTC site last New Year's. I was told it was a steal at $200 a night which I found hard to believe.
