I mainly stay at the Mansions when I'm over & have never had a problem before, this time however was different. I got a warning letter first which made me chuckle, 100 Euro fine if it happened again.

I smoked again in the evening & one in the morning before departure, upon checkout the very pretty girl on the counter said one of the cleaning ladies had smelt it again & the fine would be imposed, I said prove it was me & I will pay your fine. She could not prove it so she let me off.
Two things... First, I'm giving you Warning #2... quit blazing up when you are staying at my mansion. Second... she's not a girl...

Lol.

No adams apple, no 5 o clock shadow & no cock bulge, she was 100% girl & a very fit one to boot.

Hotel Zuiderbad? Is that the one facing the north sea near the casino? Big white building?

I love Zandvoort. Quick train to Amsterdam if you need it. The beach for a change.

Ditto the Acro in May. Great location too, quiet but within 5 mins of Leidseplein.

*might* be back there in sept if recent offers of house/child sitters holds :o))))))

That sounds like it. Just past the casino when coming from the train station.

Why is it so important to smoke in your hotel room?

I merely walked outside the hotel, turned left or right, walked about 50 yards away, and lit up a big bowl of hasj. No problem. No worries. No fine.

Much easier than worrying about being ratted out by a chambermaid and paying the hotel extra a fine for breaking their rules.

Each to their own NY NY. Personally I love being able to smoke in my hotel room and look out the window and watch life in Amsterdam go by.

Look at LastHamlet's avatar, it's just like that. I know his is from Grey Area but smoking in your hotel room in Amsterdam is kinda like being in your own coffeeshop!

My view is I am a guest in a country that is forward enough thinking to have coffee shops which allow me to purchase and smoke legally. I understand the police and local councils do not want tourists smoking pot in the streets. I'm not going to give the anti-pot movement in NL in reason whatsoever to adversely change the pot smoking rules in the netherlands. I generally stay in smaller hotels and make sure I have the ok before smoking up.

General courtesy and respect on both counts I should think, dont you?

I don't know about you guys, but the hotel rooms I usually get the only life I see outside my window is the occasional roofer! lol

But I agree with Kiwi above that you have to have some decorum when using their hotels, or anybody's hotel, for that matter. I've been staying at the cheaper apartments around town and they nearly always allow you to smoke either one!

Fortunately I gave up the smoke more than a couple of decades ago and only have to contend with toking, which produces more smell, but less stench!

I always chose a smoke friendly place.

I don't particularly want to have to get dressed and haul ass down god knows how many flights of stairs to walk outside and smoke. I'm paying ffs, I want to lie back in my bed and watch crap tv and spark up, cuddling with my lady in a nice warm room. Bliss.

It's simple: if the hotel does not allow cigarette smoking, it will be a hassle to smoke weed; but if it allows cigarettes, smoking weed is easy.
I'm too old to worry about putting a towel under the door, etc. I will simply take my business to hotels that do allow smoking.
I've been checking Booking.com, and the only cheap hotels I can find that allow smoking are Abba, deWestertoren, City Hotel (R-Plein) and
Old Quarter. Any others?
Dear UKBL, have you updated your website on the smoking issue?

Toke on!
