Sept 2007 update from Christiania

Postby viking » Sun Sep 09, 7:44 pm

Back in Copenhagen for my annual visit with my
friends in Christiania. Then it's on to A'dam for two weeks.

Yesterday was the 25h anniversary of the Christiania Sports Club.
Party started at 1:30pm and was over around 9am this morning.
First up was children's games with prizes, then the grilling started around
3pm. 80 kilos of meat was grilled. Steaks tender enough to cut with
plastic forks and knives, a huge slab of beef, huge pølse (wurst), and
turkey breasts. Beer on tap. Cakes. House hash joints going around.

And it was all free to anyone that stopped by.
It had been posted all over the place and lots of people came.
We were yelling " Free beer!" to tourists that were just looking to
see what everyone was gathering for.

Great to be back hanging with my frineds again.

And the super super maroc is truly top notch this year.
So nice to see dealers with their tables set up again, too.
Much less police presence this year, and I haven't seen any yet.

When they do come in, the dealers pack up and deal from another area
until they leave, then they set back up.

I need to toke.
So I'll end this now and roll up a Christiania-style toasted tobacco
and super super maroc joint.

Thanks for the update Viking.

Did I hear you right? The dealers are selling from their tables again?

Yes, that's right. Boney and Cheech found them selling
on tables when they visited earlier this year, too.
I got to hang at one of the tables yesterday, which was real fun.

The current super super maroc here is really excellent.
To a lover of fine light marocs, like me, it's just heavenly.
It's soft and piable, and smells like fresh flowers.
Definitely better than any light maroc I've sampled in the Dam.
So nice to be able to put a ton in each joint, instead of the usual
single chunks I smoke of it at home.

I made a joint with about 1.5 gram of the ssm in it and shared
it with my friend's stepdad. Gave him his first whitey:)
Which he and I both thought was hilarious, as he's black.
We got some Coca-Cola in him before he fell off his stool.

Showed a woman from Slovenia around Christiania yesterday.
She said she could smell hash in the air, but never saw any for sale.
(She never approached the tables, I guess.)

And there are still nice guys selling from their pockets.
One quietly said, "Hash?" as we walked by him. I asked her
if she had heard, and she said, "No", and was surprised that
you could get hash that way, also. And, no, she wasn't a hash
smoker, but loved how it smelled in the air.

Taking her around Christiania, I once again discovered how
little of the whole area that most tourists see. She lives nearby,
so is not a tourist, but even she had never gotten out of the
main area. She was amazed at all the litle stores and restaurants
that are spread out past the main Pusher Street area.

OK, time to get back outside.
There's toking to be done.
Lots of it.

Cheers Viking,
Good to hear that you're in the neighborhood, and that all is well and back to more normal times. Man I envy you the Super Super Marroc. Would love to jump on the boat or the plane and join you for a couple of days. Either in Christiania or Mokum.

Enjoy your trip.

Nice update Viking, thanks!

We were impressed how one of the table dealers could bite off a chunk of hash and drop it on the scale and it would weigh out just right!

Do you need to toke?

Wish you were here, PH!
Then there'd be another "hash mad" viking to join
in the fun.

Yeah, boney, it's great how the dealers bite off
the right amount, isn't it? And, yes, I need to toke.
Guess I'll have to sign off this hotel pc and get to it, huh?

Saw police in Christiania yesterday, for the first time this visit.
Small group of about 6 or 8. They were walking down Pusher Street
as my friends and I were walking up it, back toward the clubhouse.
People would yell, "Ost!" (Danish for cheese) as they walked by them.
When you hear "Ost!" in the air, you know they're coming.
They didn't stop anyone, just walked on through looking everyone over.
They had just passed the dealer's tables and when I got to them,
people were sitting at them, just not dealing right then:)

OK, there's a whole lot of fine super super maroc calling my name
and I need to, I need to, uh......... Oh yeah,
I need to toke!

These updates are great! I have got to get back to Christiana. I thought it was pretty much all over for Christiana. The fact that the tables are back up and they are dealing is fucking great! I was in Christiana for my first and only visit back in 97 or 98. They had cops coming through every once in a while back then as well. We picked up some of the finest gear there, which we took on our Ferry from Malmo, Sweeden. Some of the best times ever....

I may try to get over there for a one nighter next month. Can you recommend a hotel near Christiana. Thanks

Chili Boney and I stayed at Hotel Nebo right behind the train station in Copenhagen. It was not close but walking distance to Christiania. Smoker friendly for us and they had a great breakfast! Also very inexpensive.

Said my goodbyes to my friends in Christiania this afternoon
(Wed the 12th) and am in Amsterdam again now.

This was my best ever visit to Christiania, for sure.
The party was just awesome.

And the hash was really top notch, even from the vendors,
not just from out of my friends' pockets. I bought so little
hash while there, because everyone just kept passing me
their j's the whole time. Ah, great times.

Chili, as to hotels, I've always stayed out in the Frederiksberg
area, which is too far away for those visiting Christiania, unless
you're near the Metro stop out there. But I did discover a B&B
in Christianshavn, about a 5 minute walk or less from Christiania.
Think I'll try that next time. Although all the biking between my hotel
and Christiania helped get my legs back in shape for bike riding here
in the Dam.

After getting nice and stoned outside the Moonfisher this morning,
it was on to the CSC where my friends kept passing j's to me
until I had to leave for the airport. They often say, "You don't smoke
like a normal American, you smoke like us!". I'll take that as a
compliment!

Uneventful trip out of Copenhagen and a short 60 minute flight here.
Had a filter tip ready in my pocket and toasted a Prince ciggie at the
bus stop outside Schiphol. Rolled a cone on the bus and lit it as
I stepped out at Leidseplein. Ah, nothing like a little Danish goodness
to help with check-in!

OK, got to get out and buy some gear before I burn up too much of the
good stuff.

Damn, this place need to allow toking in here.......

What? Me? I just found it on the bus from Schiphol.

And, yes, Banks, I now have my lighter again.
Will be brining it home with me next week.
