Moderaters wanted

Postby bas » Wed Feb 12, 1:45 am

Hello all,

I think the new forum
in combination with the old one works fine
but i am open for ideas, critisism etc.

In the first week of the new forum i asked confuzn to
be the moderator for the channelites board but i think
it would be a good idea to let YOU decide who would be
best to help me with keeping/making the new forums a
great place.

So, my idea is as follows :
If you want to be a moderator, reply to this post
and after that i will set up a poll where you can vote.

Greetings,

Bas

hi bas, i want POWER, DO YOU HEAR ME POWER!!
just kidding, just hoping i do not get moderated out of here.
now, on second thought i would not mind moderating the old forum, just so as to keep that "posers" poster moron where he belongs, in the trash bin.
wait, on third thought I WANT POWER!

tots zein, happy motoring,

wd

Since I am on the board regularly everyday, I would like to volunteer to be a moderator. Perhaps on the coffeeshop board:))

Not to mention, I love the channels and I have been around here for quite a while (2 yrs) so I guess you could say I'm an irregular(?)and I would be happy to help you out Bas!

I would be happy to help moderate if needed. I moderate for a few other sites so I usually spend a lot of time on line. Also having a fast cable connection in Amsterdam helps out...

I have NO desire to be a moderator...in fact I have no idea what a moderator really does. But I do have some concerns about what moderators might do. This site does not need a bunch of "peace officers" dedicated to saving us from the boggie men, i.e. the troll. Overzealous moderators can cause more problems for the forum than changing the format once a week would.

I would hope that we are aware that we have a moderator on our site only in the rarest of circumstances. It is much better to have the perodic troll (which anyone with just a bit of maturity and discipline should be able to handle) than to see us lose the flow of free discussions which has been such an important part of this site.

Not quite off topic....

Postby SuZe » Wed Feb 12, 8:02 pm

When I was growing up, my father used to say "No good deed goes unpunished." I used to think it was a very cynical thing to say, and I did not really understand it. As I grow older, however, I have come to appreciate the truth (however hard-edged) of that statement.

I bring this up to make the point that moderator is a thankless task; only because you cannot please all the people all the time. The ongoing debate about forum format proves that. I also bring this up to say thank you to everyone responsible for this forum, no matter what their role.

My father also used to say "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth." (I know, he used to spout off a lot, it was part of what we loved and detested about him!) And, a gift is what this board is; both to the well-seasoned Amsterdam visitor and to the novice. So, to who ever ends up bearing some responsibility for keeping this board the lively community that it is: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

(And, no I don't want to put my name in moderator-contention; hence the off topic subject line. :-) )

Actually, it's a pert far distance from BumFuck, it's a-sittin' betwixt Dallas and Ft. Worth, Texas.

I'm originally from Brooklyn, New York. Do you know where that is, BOhannon? It's one of the five boroughs of New York City, on the northeastern shore of the United States.

Have a great day, BOh.

I would offer to be a moderator, however I already have two children to keep me busy...

I fear that these boards, especially after the past few weeks controversy, would be more of a day care for baby sitting all of the crying children.

We really have to have the year along with the date on these posts. It took me a while to figure out what was so new about this forum until I realized it wasn't that late into February yet.

Living in the Netherlands on a fast internet connection. I use the computer daily for work so I am almost always near a computer or online. Would be up for moderating if the position is open...

Hrmm now that I look closer at this thread its over a year old..

Haha, so much for that idea

OHD needs to fixup and stop replying to threads that are a year old! Put down the pipe Dave!

Another vote for Blueberry. It was her that dragged me into this addictive dereliction in the first place when she referenced Channels on her VirtualTourist Amsterdam pages.
But BB, if you get the job, you can't out me when I flame Muckypup and Bollocks as a guest poster.

Why? Bollocks and OHD would be able to diss / edit the posts of people they didn't like, then get Blueberry to block the ISP addresses of anyone who complained! Bas seems to have pretty sound judgement when it comes to moderating, so leave things alone I say!

Peace, Des.
