Very nice to be able to add a personal touch. Took me
little time to think of an original one...

Mr Natural!

Postby confuzn » Sun Jan 26, 8:38 pm

MR. NATURAL is drawn by Robert Crumb, a great underground comic artist. It is on the same genre as the Fritz the cat, Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers. R. Crumb also has a movie out about his life (The guy is a freak, its a good flick). Here is some info from a site "In 1965, Crumb took some bad acid that left his perceptions "fuzzy" for several months. He couldn't truck, function well on the physical plane, but his smeared brain invented and his hand recorded in his sketchbooks such characters as the Snoid, Flakey Foont, Eggs Ackly, Shuman the Human, and, foremost among them, this guy, Mr. Natural. Equal parts con man and saint, Mr. Natural was everyone's favorite cartoon guru. Dispenser of wisdom, kicker of silly asses, Mr. Natural had a bad stretch in the '70s when he was committed to an asylum. But he started truckin' again and returned in the '80s, only slightly the worse for the wear." - KEEP ON TRUCKING!

Mr Natural

Postby nogbin » Sun Jan 26, 8:56 pm

I remember first reading Mr Natural and other Crumb cartoons, in BERKELEY, when it was happening. Anyone live in Berkeley in the early 70's?

Multiple Avatars

Postby confuzn » Mon Jan 27, 4:39 pm

Does phpbb have support for multiple Avatars,. They didn't on the last software release, but I'm wondering if they worked it into this version.

Thanks!

Thanks confuzn! Head comix rule! Zap, RIP-OFF (Freak Bros), Insect Fear, Young Lust, Moondog, etc. I love 'em. I also have the Crumb documentary. Crazy family. Brilliant man. I still have a few head comix from the 60's.... (one of my faves is "Captain Pissgums and his Pervert Pirates") I read them ever so often and remember my hippie daze.

Vermeer, Hans, Great Little Pics.

Postby LastHamlet » Tue Jan 28, 2:52 pm

It does seem befitting that you 2 chose those pics. Glad to see you are still with us Vermeer. I am sorry some one ticked you off. This new forum will prevent a lot of the flamming though. By the way Vermeer, did you still need those Marlboro Lights in June??? Happy to help out. I had read (on the old forum) where someone posted where they may be avaliable there. Didn't know if you had investigated or not. Anyway, let me know. Of course, I would like to say all the little pics chosen by everyone are really unique personas to portray the essence of who we all are. Confuzn= really cool Persona/Pic.. Progress= Awesome. Is that the back side of the Rijks? Porky= To the Point Persona/Pic. BoHannon= very interesting(Changes his artwork/Pic display) keeps it interesting. SomeBozo= Most abstract, made me smile when I saw it. Kinda wished I'd thought of it. These are just to name a few. So, thanks BAS for adding this feature. It really does make things unique.

Sorry BOhannon, I rechecked the little/pics, I thought yours changed on some of the posts. It was my mistake, but it is still a good persona/pic.
