LH, Trip Report/ Day 10 thru The Finish.
OK,OK, just 1 more song by the Dead that just seems to fit so well and that's that, I promise.
Comes A Time
Lyrics: Robert Hunter
Music: Jerry Garcia
Chorus:
Comes a time when the blind man takes your hand
Says "don't you see?"
Gotta make it somehow
On the dreams you still believe
Don't give it up
You got an empty cup
Only love can fill
Only love can fill
Been walking all morning
Went walking all night
I can't see much difference
Between the dark and light
And I feel the wind
And I taste the rain
Never in my mind
To cause so much pain
[chorus]
From day to day
Just letting it ride
You get so far away
From how it feels inside
You can't let go
'Cause you're afraid to fall
But the day may come
When you can't feel at all
[chorus]
Garcia sang the following verse when the song was
being developed in 1971 (eg at the Harding Theater
on 11/7/71):
When the words come out
Like an angry stream
You hear yourself say
Things you could never mean
When the heat cools down
And you find your mind
You got a lot of words
You've got to stand behind
This one gives me chills on my arms when I really listen to it.
moe.

LH's Living Room
What an amazing thread!
It occured to me that this thread is almost like a virtual living room in LH's virtual house. And, in the manner that friends drop by to keep you company during difficult days, the channelites log on and to offer support, provide inspiration, and start a good ole sing-a-long!
Now, if only we could get into the virtual casseroles and pies that go along with visiting a friend in need!
LH: Hope we're still on for smoke and a good meal on 6/27!

Wow! I just spent the past four hours reading this thread, and I'm glad I did. LastHamlet, you're a prolific writer, one that brings this world closer together. I do not wish to gloss over your personal tragedy, but your zest for life and the goodness you see in others will overcome the roadblocks that are thrown your way. I can only echo what others have already said so eloquently -- by sharing your feelings and observations, you've made us all richer as human beings. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Broodje Taartar
I thank you for your kind words. I can only hope to live up to the high level of those wonderful comments. I am honored you posted your first post on this thread and it does take a while to read. Your words were words that belong on this thread, and are now an everlasying part of it as well. You will fit in just fine on this forum.

lasthamlet's trip reports and mucky's death penalty thread were what got me reading channels in the first place.
the trip before the one detailed here, lasthamlet did this thing where he and lastophelia wrote alternate days of the report. it made strange reading, (i'm certain neither saw the other's writing until it appeared on channels), but when they split up i'm guessing lh took her bits down.
it was the trip that featured a huge coffeeshop crawl, blueberry was there and dannymac. maybe cheech and boney. it was a big thing on channels for a while, with it's own website and pictures.
he was a bit of an oddity lasthamlet but he loved Amsterdam and weed. i'm sure i would have enjoyed meeting him.

I concur . I'd lurked for a few years before signing up here, though often had a bit of fun in the Guest Zone . LH wrote beautifully and really was a genuine pleasure to read. I know he was a bit wack with all that nonsense about THC in all plants but he always came over as a nice bloke . Anyway you can link Muckys death penalty thread ? I don't recall it .
