The Phallus!
Birdman, a little respect here, that IS the National monument of the Netherlands.
NATIONAL MONUMENT
The National Monument on Dam Square was unveiled on 4 May 1956. It was erected in remembrance of those who died during World War II. Each year on 4 May many dignitaries, including representatives of the royal family, commemorate the victims of the Second World War here.
Now the washington monumnet, there's a... Lol

After closing down the WH on a Weds nite, a wonderfully gorgeous couple waltz toward home.
With dirty feet, and a cobblestone street, they meander through the night air..
THAT WAY!.. no, dear, it's that way. HUNH-UNH! ... yes dear.... damn you.
...a few bikes and nothing else. Hardly a sound, for it was 3:30.
This old Okie-boy was right at home. Beers in his gut, a beautiful woman by his side (with beers in her gut), barefeets, talking like we were old friends. Sometimes holding hands, sometimes tightroping the tram-rails. All times happy.
As we make our way north toward the hotel, it occurs to us that this is a special night. There is no-one else in the world. Literally. No bikes, no pedestrians. No-thing.
..as we stumble across Rokin, I want to hit the shopping straat behind it. much nicer scenery lol.
This artery, Kalverstraat then Nieuwendijk, is the best way north and south for a stroll anytime, but tonite.........
...there is magic in the air.....of course, all shops closed.... all apartments quiet, no bikes, no people, not a peep...
except for two laughey, smiley pilgrims, pilgrimming. On their way home, after dancing the night away.
We had eaten Ribs at Caf\0los, sat in the square, sipping beers, smoking ciggies and exploring each other. We had danced at Bourbon street & the Waterhole. We had walked for miles.
now..... we came upon Dam Square.
almost 4:20 .. this time the "M" is for magic.
In one of the busiest European cities in the world, in the main square...... a chilling silence, not a creature was stirring, not a pigeon. nor a mouse.
..without thinking, we descend into hushed whispers, migrating to the center of the square. The cobblestones are different here. Our feet tell us so.
Something guided us to stand in the Circle. Chills ran up & down my spine. As I gazed into her eyes and wrap my arms around, she sighs her amazement. We stood there for an eternity. Our minds entwined within the silence, ........ and our hearts upon our lips.
There is serendipity back in my life. After all these years. I will never forget this moment.

Unwaranted Attacks???
Oh Wow!!! Have to disagree Dano, this is actually a wonderful piece of poetic work. IMHO, one of Bollocks' most interesting, complex and yet understandable works of art.
At this point maybe you should offer up a bit of your works, that you feel surpasses this, or bumping this thread up as an example, has not proved your point... Cause, I feel it is a great report.
So, either match it with a bit of your own, or pull the gauntlet back off the table, in other words.
All The Best Regards,
LH

Thats vindictive. Try to spell it right if you're planning on calling anyone a retard in the same sentance.
Aren't you going to school to be a teacher?

Well LH I can see why we disagree.... Because you know, I never liked your reports either. When I read them I want to shriek "PARAGRAPH BREAKS GODDAMN IT" I just never said anything because you seem delicate and I didn't want to hurt your feelings.
It could be a matter of taste. I'm more of a "Catch-22" and you, a "Love In a Time of Cholera"
As much as I would like to write you something... I can't at present. I've too many things in my life that require time and attention. I promise when I do... It will entertain, be readable, and not have anything to do with conga lines or attempts at "looking impish"

I can respect that Dano, and sometimes I yell at myself for the breaks and stuff. Seriously, the breaks are the story. Those cracks that make us up, are the true beauty.(I know, that is fucked up to even think about.)
As for taking it, I'm good. There is not much anybody can do to me, either, that I am not more willing to do to myself.
I suspected my reports were getting to people, so I gave it up. I was never much of a writter anyhow, just a pain releaser.
I will be the first to read your report, and with not an insulting eye, but in my not so normal character, the off-beat view. I imagine they will far exceed anything I ever wrote, when the time comes, cause you are a bright person. Like anybody else you get a little pissed at times... All is good I hope.
Best Regards,
LH

I'd like to see you do it. Let's see some readable prose that will entertain us all.
Don't give me that time and attention shit. If you can make over 2200 posts, you can squeeze off a short report. It doesn't have to be about Amsterdam. What's the best trip you ever took?
We've seen that all your post are golden. We know you can do it.

GOTCHA!
having come out in 1961 as a novel, I read it as a 14 year old in 1968.
..still cornfused, I saw the movie in 1970 as a 16 y.o.
upon multiple readings and viewings, i got it.
tell us more.
WOOT!

I read the first time when I was sixteen. I "got it" then. The thing is you are no Joseph Heller. Not even close.
PS I couldn't even sit through the movie it sucked so bad

Uhhh, yeh.....they kinda sucked there....hambone.....relax...
I knew my suspicions were correct!!!
I just knew it...
Thanks for being honest with me, Boneymaroni.
Although, you must have felt compelled to read some of them, but the "Train Wreck Effect" easily explains that... Being such a disaster, you can't take your eyes off of it, right?
