Embrace Cannabis tourism Denver

Postby MileHighDenver » Fri Jul 25, 4:32 am

I responded to a guy from Denver living in Amsterdam that thinks cannabis tourists are scum. My story got published on the Cannabist web site and the Denver Post. As you well know I am not a very good writer and have a hard time putting my thoughts into something people can understand but I think I did pretty good.

During my early morning ritual of coffee and internet news, of which the Denver Post Cannabis section is a part of the ritual, I almost choked on my coffee reading the aka "Beware of Amsterdam Pot Tourists" fiction.

Talk about altered perceptions! Methinks that writer must be in a separate reality. Give me a break..... drinking is by far the single most detrimental behavior in Amsterdam, and unfortunately far too common.

Your counter piece in the Denver Post was very well written.

Thank you for standing up for those of us who have enjoyed this sacred herb for decades and hope to, one day, enjoy ourselves in public coffee shops in Colorado......

Dogbreath :-)

MHD.

I don't know why you say you don't write well.

Clearly written and easy to understand.

Alcohol vs. weed? None of us ever read a headline that said, "man kills wife in pot fueled rage". (Substitute the word alcohol for pot and we all have read that headline. Many times)

Excellent article.

Today we are off to the Munchie Cup in Aspen. The last day will be hosted by Anita Thompson and held at HSTs Owl Farm. Aspen is also hosting the USA Pro Challenge Bike race and it starts today. We will come into Aspen over Independence Pass. It's only open a few months a year because of the deep snow there.

Tomorrow the article I wrote will be published in the Het Parool with photo. They have translated it to Dutch.

How was it?

We went over the pass the day before. Gunnison -Crested Butte-Aspen...all back roads starting with Rampart Range.

Jaw dropping beauty around every switchback.

Great read! It's nice to see the same familiar faces in these threads. I haven't logged in ages... Can't believe I still remembered the password lol. I actually came here looking to contact MHD and glad to see you are active on this forum and in the Denver scene.

I'm actually planning a first upcoming trip to Denver with some friends. Hoping you can give some good advice and places to visit / avoid. You have always been helpful in the past.

Schipol.

Colorado is the place to visit. Products are amazing.
MHD recommended a place near the airport that had great products.

3D Cannabis club/cafe.

Favorite purchase was called "Death Star". Great name. Knocked my socks off. Go there, you won't be disappointed.

Anyone over the age of 21 can legally purchase weed in Colorado. Along with a long list of concentrats and a staggering amount of infused goodies to eat and drink.

Hands up if you are a Colorado resident that regularly buys weed retail. Anyone? Anyone? Fucking tax is criminal, not the black market.

Sorry, off topic. Enjoy your time Schiphol.

Nobody that lives here pays retail. Nobody that posts here and visits needs to pay retail. It's early in the game. Pot is legal to purchase consume and grow for every Colorado resident. A good start in my opinion.
What about suppy and demand? There seems to be a robust crowd waiting to buy retail.

Fuck off..dead person...I'm equipped to deal with all matters related to living on the planet Earth

I consider 18 bucks for a spliff to be laughable.

Doesn't bother me to be dead in the eyes of the jerk who, single handedly, sent the bag lady packing and one who believes in the poor system we've allowed, "because it's the only one we've got". Also, if you were equipped to deal with matters related to the living you'd have seen the comments above your post.

So would anyone with reading and comprehension difficulties. Pre rolls go for six bucks apiece, or three for fifteen and cones ten dollars apiece, or three for $25, which imho is also laughable. However, especially when you find the weed inside to be less than potent.

Why would anyone pay so much for 1 Joint?

Cheaper/simpler options exist:

Roll your own.
Let your friend roll for you.
Purchase a cheap pipe.
Buy edibles.

Medical weed in Colorado goes as low as $125 per oz. tax included. Not top shelf but better than most of the weed available in non legalized states. I don't think that price is outrageous.

Few if any are getting rich in Colorado selling legal cannabis. The regulation and seed to sell tracking make it an expensive business endeavor to say the least. The cues are gone but retail and medical stores do stay very busy. I would guess that 90% of recreational cannabis is sold to non-residents. They all seem to be very happy.

$125 is cheap by any standard , even for your standard strain . But what I don't understand ,is that a cursory browse of legal state menus , shows no correlation to that price . The prices are sky fucking high and would have me sticking to the illegal market . So , could I as a tourist , bowl up in Colorado , go into a ' dispensary ' and find say a generic skunk at that price or not ? Or would I get bum fucked sixty dollars for an eigth of stupid name Kush ?
Not that I'd travel to the States for the sole purpose of drug tourism , I'm just curious as there are so many different takes on this , many contradictory .

Yes Jessica you can. But you are limited to 7 grams a purchase. You would have to go to 4 stores to end up with an OZ.

RP, Westword is our local entertainment magazine. I have a copy in front of me and there are many places advertising OZ's for $100 and up. Some will sell you 2 OZ's of "shake" for as little as 50 dollars if you are wanting to cook, bake, or make oil. I guarantee you will be able to buy all you want at a good price. There really is competition amongst the sellers and that should keep prices fair.
