What about the Kap Hotel on Den Texstraat. It's been years but at the time they were smoker friendly. Close to Mellow Yellow, Noon and Heinekin Brewery.

Post 800

I'm almost two and a half weeks removed from my trip. It could have gone better if for one reason. Because I didn't call my bank and tell them I'd be out of the country, I was somewhat handcuffed during my precious hours in Amsterdam. I couldn't get cash so I couldn't get about as much as I'd hoped....

As an addendum to our second visit to the Moonfisher: It had been explained to me that the authorities could't take cigarettes out of people's hands, take them apart and examine them. Well, they could, but would they go that far? Kate and I were sitting at a table with our coffees watching all the o...

Well, here I am back home. Didn't get anything at the duty free. The prices seem high. Booze I want nearly $40 and over. Had to dash at Vienna Airport but made my connection. Terrible flight! Gnarly kosher food. KLM much better. No Starbucks at United terminal in JKF, but they were prominent at Cope...

Slight Return

We made it back like I said. It was just as annoyingly cold as it was the other time and things were the same. No smoking in the Moonfisher...HOWEVER, this would apply more to the smoker (American) who puts the hasj in the bowl and fires it up as well as the same individual that would roll a pre pot...

Hej - If I see it at duty free, I might get it, I dunno. Probably a ton cheaper. I never knew that Sweden controlled their liquor the way they do. Doesn't stop people from drinking it, tho. Doesn't stop Kate either. We made it back to Copenhagen. I checked in for my Copenhagen - Vienna flight and ma...

On Aquavit - Saw a bunch of different brands at the gov't run liquor store called Systembalogadet. Only place you can buy booze in Sweden and it is expensive. Prices started at about 25 dollars. A fifth of Jamesons is over 40 dollars. No such thing as a six pack or a twelve pack of a case of beer. Y...

Christiania Update

I ran into a person tonight that said they scored and smoked it up in The Moonfisher in mid January. So here it is a little better than two months later and it's now Verboten. We may make it back for a quick look tomorrow. Depends on time, trains, etc.

If it's Tuesday, it must be Växjö

Sweden is even more expensive than Copenhagen. I was in the grocery store last night and saw that avocados are 7 dollars. whole bean coffee is about 10 a pound. I got some but didin't stock up like I usually do. Kate andI went out for Chinese last night. It cane to 55 dollars. That's two dishes, two...

Christiania - Short Visit

It was pretty cold last night when we went. Scored without a problem but finding a comfortable place to smoke it was. They don't allow it in the cafes anymore. We tried the Moonfisher but they had signs up. The Woodstock looked a bit rowdy. I asked one of the vendors but he played that "strictl...

Who knows what can happen? So I made it to Copenhagen. It's cold AND windy so far. I detect things to be more expensive. At the sandwich shop at the train station, those premade sandwiches were about $7. Cokes are smaller and $3. The Super Maroc is Tasty and 2g = $40. That's not bad. I'll be checkin...

More

AFTER MY LAST POST, I left Betty's and took a walk in the falling snow and took some pictures. Also wanted to air out because that upstairs was hecka smoky at Betty's. I'm not so sure it worked because I could smell it. I had a paper sack with my Geels coffee, mints from Hema, and a few gifts. I was...

Made it! It's snowing big fat flakes here in Amsterdam. I'm at Betty Boop's working a one gram joint of Betty Boop's Haze. Got pretty stoned on just a little bit. Of course staying awake for most of the flight helps the high. All I've really done was walk in the area close to the station; down Warmo...

Have to scan it at airport, but according to them, I can self-check myself in all the way to Amsterdam. Will see how things go at the airport. Checking one bag. Will be on my way in a few. ...

Progressive Trip Report - B'day in A'dam '08

I'm essentially going for the afternoon. The flight from SF gets in Friday 3/21 at 11. It's a KLM so there will be the good non-American airline service. It will be packed but I got my window seat. I've been tracking it on http://www.flightstats.com/go/Home/home.do You can track any flight anywhere ...

Is that the same as the tour of the Heinekin Brewerey? If so, I think they used to give you a commemorative glass mug instead of a can opener.

DeKuil sounds a little less ecstatic w/o Amstels from the tap.
Still fun, tho.
Thanks for the on the spot news.

Sounds like an incredible experience for you coming from Appalachia. New York City is closer and daunting enough, just like Amsterdam. But you have to go underground to get your Silver Pearls. Did you enjoy the late sunsets? Amnesia is a nice place. Cozy corner shop. Ask for the MK Ultra or the Amne...

Just answer there few simple questions:
1. What was your favorite coffeeshop?
2. What was your favorite experience?
3. Describe the time you were most loaded.
4. Describe hotel, best meal, flights.

There you have it. Supply extra detail where applicable (or not).

So, you smacked your head on the canal and were recovering from food poisoning? You have a lot of fortitude, my friend. Still, hard to let a couple of little things like that keep you from Queens Day.

Great ongoing report! See you there next April if not somewhere sooner.

You certainly do the complete coffeeshop immersion, Viking. Keeping your hat in sight (so as to not get lost) while taking pictures that day will forever be burned into my memory. That day was also marked by meeting Nol and being the most stoned in my life. No whitie but several noddies.

I went to Haarlem on the 24th thinking I'd catch up with the crawl at some point according to the schedule. Was surprised to find the group at WW's near the train station. But according to you, the crawl part I went on with you was something like Chapter 3 or 4 of a series of forays. You forgot to m...
