Queen's Day

Place our friend in these photos to accompany his fine report (I cannot imagine a bike in that crowd, it is sometimes hard to find room for one's feet!). http://www.europebyphoto.com/queensday-tour.html

Hang in there dude. I saw this coming from your first post. Time heals and no other can make you happy but yourself. Others can only add and subtract. I have only ever gone to Amsterdam alone and enjoyed it much every time. I made new friends as well. My ex-wife took all of the desire for relationsh...

Hey now, I have made a few trips to Amsterdam in the past few years and with the exception of the last trip which was "Holland only" I always include another country/city including: Ghent, Brugge, Paris, London and Prague. The trains and "Easyjet" make the best of several worlds available, even if i...

"I think we are having a good time"

Well I think so too! My problem is that even after decades of smoking I am a lightweight by your standards. That is why I have seen so few coffeeshops! Great reports, keep 'em coming!

Thanks for the "virtual" trip Weldon! I agree about Haarlem, both Schubert and Mozart have played the organ in St. Bavo's cathedral! I liked coffeeshop Empire, a gezellig place. Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Gimme a call when your head returns from Amsterdam, LOL.

You ought to try a canal boat ride by the Boom Chicago folks, very enjoyable, smoker friendly. Are yo...

Yes, I used to dig and chill, though I suspect you have it down to a much more exact science. Your system almost gets me to want to try it again. In the past, I'd invariably not find bulbs, or slice them digging them up. I really disliked the chore. I've seen wire baskets, and thought about burying...

AAh, you only think that you can't grow tulips in So. Cal. Here's the trick: Tulips need a minimum of about 1000 hours of sub 50º temp. I don't regularly get that in N.Cal either. What I do is take my bulbs, in a paper bag (to avoid moisture/rot problems) and place them in the vegetable crisper of m...

Thanks DrTak, that "combo" bus entry ticket is "just the ticket" as, like I said, it allows you to use the uncrowded rear entrance. Man I wish I could go! The 250 bulbs that I have bought at the Bloomenmarkt over the years have just about finished their annual display here where I live, ahhhh.

If I remember correctly it is a train ride to Leiden, then a bus ride to Lisse. That bus (you'll have to find the right one) drops you off at the rear entry to Het Keukenhof. They used to sell a package deal at the CS but I have been told they stopped that. Check at the VVV (right outside CS) the sh...
