TUESDAY, JANUARY 3RD, 2006 - DAY SEVEN Woke up at 10am and left the room just before noon and headed directly to the Westerkerk in hopes of hearing the carillon. Yes, we really did have a great time. We did put away a few beers but really only had one each at most of our stops. We also walked and ate a bit in between so it was pretty easy to handle. You have to be careful though with those 7plus % beers. They can surely sneak up on you!

Yes, Cafe' Belgique is a very special place and they are open late. A great place for a nightcap.

Unfortunately, we weren't wearing our boots. But the walk from Centraal down the Zeeldijk and over to Dam Square wasn't too bad as the snow was pretty packed down by all the pedestrian traffic.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 27th, DAY ONE - ARRIVAL DAY Arrived at Philadelphia International at 6pm. The chocolate shop is called Australia and is located on Leidsestraat just above the Leidsespleine. They make the chocolate on the premises and it is excellent as I have discovered since being home. I think the Great White Shark was actually from the Abraxas, which we went to early on in the trip, but I forgot to include in the report. Although I had written that it came from the Greenhouse, I believe I was mistaken. Hard to remember as I'm sure you can understand!

Trip Report - Part 9 Last Day

DAY 9 - Last Day Woke up late this morning. At around noon, an early version of Chinese New Year’s began to unfold on Damstraat just below our balcony. More 50 foot long strands of firecrackers plus a dragon. Quite a sight! Left the room at 2 PM, exchanged some dollars on Damstraat, and who do you t...

The Casablanca is also located on the Zeedijk, about midway between Centraal Station and the Nieuwemarkt. The t'Appien is at the end of Zeedijk closest to Centraal Station.

Remembering details

Thanks for the kind words. The only way I was able to remember these details was by typing my notes on the laptop each morning while M was getting herself ready. And yes, Luscius is indeed a great restaurant and worth a splurge as it was rather expensive in comparison to the other places that we ate...
