Ah, Dutch is like English but spelled different and all run together. If only I could conjugate verbs I 'd be well on my way to speaking cloglish.

The ice was OK, if I remember right it was just 6 Euro a gram. The best stuff I had was the Dutch Moonshine Hash from Tweede Kamer and, suprisingly, the White Widow from Barneys. As for the ATM card...I think it has something to do with the credit card company's idea of protecting us. Like all those...

My wife and I awoke and saw our friend Briana to a taxi. We headed over to het Ballonetje. Nice shop with cats and frogs. I bought the ice weed. Again, so-so. We walked back to the Centrum and just as we were passing Neiuwe Herengracht(I think it was Heren) a parade came floating down the canal. Ban...

Woke up with another hangover. Ah, vacation! We all got cleaned up and headed to the AlbertCuypstraat Market. Picked up some clothes and of course some more cheese. I had never seen an Emmentaler( what we all know as swiss cheese in the US) made from goat's milk before so I had to pick that up. It w...

Now I remember what I did last night, I went to d'Zotte on Raamstraat and had some more Belgian ales. Damn , I love that Rochefort. I was into the St. Bernardus but that's proving too sweet anymore. I woke up on the early side this morning. Today was the day to check out of the Quentin and check int...

I've stayed at the Quentin 7 times now. They're a smoke-friendly hotel. Close to most everything and lots of the trams run through the nearby Leidseplein. I'm not sure if it's still where most of the acts that play the Melkweg stay but in in the past that's been the case. They've spiffed up a bit in...

November 11th, for real this time

Thursday the 11th, 2004, I made it a point to go to the Amsterdam Historische Museum. This is my 8th trip to Amsterdam so I've become really interested in Dutch/Amsterdam history. There's probably a lot of you like that out there, if so you should head to the museum. I especially liked the reproduct...

November 10th,11th 2004

I woke up with a pretty decent hangover. Did the usual: smoke, shower. It was a beautiful gray day, raining just a bit, my favorite Amsterdfam weather. I went to my favorite shop in Amsterdam, De Kaaskamer and picked up some goat's milk goudas. I was going to get something stinky but figured I best ...

Our plane landed about 6AM. My wife was headed on to Frankfurt to visit a friend. This gave me three days in A'dam until the wife and her friend showed up. I took the train in and made it through the construction. The sun was shining, not a cloud in the sky. In my previous trips I'd never made it to...

This is the first time I've been to the Forum since right after i got back. The rest of the trip was nice, 4 days in Brussels was a bit much. There really isn't that much to do in Brussels. We were in the Grand Floris, right off the Grand Place. The largest hotel room I've had in Europe. American st...

Lift

I almost forgot , the Quentin installed an elevator since I was last there in November of 2001. This makes one's stay much nicer. I remember having very sore legs from 5 of those steep flights of stairs my first few times there.

Quentin

I've stayed at the Quentin 6 times now. Both in singles and in doubles. It's affordable, weed friendly, just plain friendly and has a great painting of Keith Richards in the lobby. The room we had this time was really small. The last time through we had a larger room. Of course , being Dutch, the ba...

Landed at Schipol about 830am. My wife and I picked up our bags, got the train and landed at Centraal Station about 10am. We bought our Strippenkarten and took the tram to the Leidseplein and walked to the Quentin. Lucky for us the room was available early. We showered and headed out to Dampkring. I...
