Native?
Nice report, MM, I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and hanging out with you guys as well :-). I think I told LH the shake I had at Amnesia was like "someone had microwaved a half gallon of chocolate ice cream and stuffed it into a glass". Yum. It was really, really refreshing to see such happy folks who ...

Thanks, X, if I were living any larger I'd need my own time zone. I, as well, hope I'm still here in December :-). Looking forward to chapter IV.

Another excellent read, X, was there with ya. Sorry about the migrane, but Amsterdam does seems to be a cure for many ills. Looking forward to the next installment.

Great weather and a CityMundo gem
Arrived 3 weeks ago in this most fabulous city, have only seen 1 day of rain...outstanding, any time of the year. I just wanted to post a quick (un-solicited) note regarding CityMundo L01312. This is a great place, right by a tram 1 stop, near the park and a 20 minute walk from Leidesplein if it get...

April Visit - a lovely weekend
I left Betty Boop after finishing my 1st days trip report, and made my way back towards Leidesplein and Rookies for a nightcap. Even though it was late, it was nice enough to sit outside, so I took advantage of the cloudless evening and nice breeze, grabbed a seat and enjoyed the groovin' music, lau...

April visit
Trip started out on a positive note as the shuttle driver saw me parking and waited for me to grab my stuff, walk over to the stop, etc. The line at security was even longer than last time, I mean it was huge, but moved nicely. I initially thought I'd have to go to the dreaded ticket window at the a...

I'm very happy you guys like the photos, thanks for the compliments. lctricity, next trip is in 1 week, 5 days, 3 hours (but who's counting?). Pictures will follow for sure as Keukenhof and Haarlem at night are on the photo-op list. I think I might try some macro close-ups for the "bud-pic" fans out...

Great read again, Unclefester. I had a situation similar to Mrs. Bean in that a week after I got home from a visit I pulled out my laundry from my backpack and a big old doobie is there, sitting in the bottom of the pack for all the world to see. I had no idea I hadn't smoked it all. After laughing,...

right on, Karl
Mr_melvis, sorry to hear as well about the elevator incident, but glad everything else turned out OK. The only time I felt "unusual" was after puffing on some black hash I bought somewhere, was all I could do to keep my eyes open. I'd call myself a heavy smoker, and always hit the ground running onc...

Ahh, the little black book...my favorite travelling companion. I agree that it does take a little bit of effort to remember to write things down in the midst (or mist as it may be) of all the fun, but it's become one of my favorite things to do. Jot down notes, prices, events of the day as they happ...

Unclefester, Nice 1st day, I'm glad you had such a fun introduction to Amsterdam. macro
LTD, usually a macro setting on a camera locks the focus at a very short distance so you can take close-ups of flowers, plants (a-hem) and other objects that the camera might not be able to focus on otherwsie. Note that not all cameras have this feature, though.
Hope that helps.

have to admit
Thanks for the replies, folks. I have to admit, though, that Disneyland For Adults (D.F.A.) was not a pun on DEA, I just like referring to Amsterdam that way 'cause it seems so fitting. Some I do like, though: CIA - Cannabis Inhalers Association (a friend gave me this t-shirt) FBI - Frequent Bud Ins...

Patrick, http://www.worldlingo.com/wl/translate says it means: "not to touch death danger" no tocar = don't touch peligro = danger muerte = death I'd imagine it's a "touch and you die" warning.. Excellent report, Patrick. I had forgotten about the panhandler the 1st day, but then remembered him skuttling off as we reached the canal tour boat captains. Hey, DrTak! Have a blast on your quick visit. I found that a little half-size pen and pad that I can keep in my shirt pocket works best for me. I keep my wallet in the upper left-hand pocket and my pad/pen in my upper right-hand pocket at all times (or at least try to), that way I can do a simple "c...

D.F.A. Day 4 - Picture Perfect
Returned to De Kuil after posting the day 3 trip report, but no barmaid from Friday in sight, so I practiced a bit of pool and then sat up at the bar finishing off some of my supplies. No matter how often I go to Amsterdam, I always seem to wind up with more little baggies and ATM transactions than ...

D.F.A. Day 3. A lazy, rainy Saturday
After leaving Coffeeshop Freeworld, I headed back to my "neighborhood bar", De Kuil, and sampled the Power Plant. I soon realized where the "Power" part came from...you smoke some, then it goes "Pow", leaving you saying things like "err...". Had me staring at the line of glasses on the bar, totally ...
