Nice report. I must get to Prague someday soon.

If not for weed and coffeeshops, I probably already would have.

Great Trip report.

Wish I lived 1hr 45min away from 'Dam.

Of course, the ice and snow part is a bit of a turnoff.

The first daffodil of the season bloomed today in my garden. Spring is in the air!

Two months till my annual pilgrimage to the Keukenhof.

Too bad it was a largely dysphoric experience for you. Oh well -- different strokes and all that. There certainly are places that plenty of people love to vacation that I personally despise (anything Disney, Hawaii and Las Vegas come to mind). However, I have friends who enjoy such things, and I re...

Halloween Week (long)

Well, I finally have a little time to relate a few observations and experiences from my recent visit at the end of October. I stayed at one of the Amsterdam Escape apartments –“suite. It was pretty nicely equipped, including pipes, papers and a small amount of weed to get started. The jukebox...

What a friggin' bummer. Whenever I have been ripped off, (I have had a couple of experiences) I have a fantasy for weeks that I am home when they return -- exercising my second amendment rights with my german shepherd along side me and all that. I guess it's like my accountant told me twenty years a...

I am never very good at these trip reports, as I tend to slack off in my posting right after I come back, but I had an excellent trip and just thought I would share some thoughts. Flew Martinair from Orlando. Flight was delayed by an hour and a half, but I was able to upgrade to star class for $300 ...

I have to second the votes on Paris sucking. I expected to go there, find the stories of rudeness, high prices, crowding, etc. to be hyperbole, but I came home disliking the French even more than I thought possible. To be fair, certain things like the Louvre and the pastries are simply wonderful -- ...

Thanks for the responses. Bo – I have a Minolta Dimage 5 Megapixel camera. It has a macro setting that I used for the close up flower shots. April '04 Koln etc. Part II

Except for the little inspector incident, which I guess happened on a Tuesday, I pretty much left off Sunday night with my last account. We got up to a partly cloudy and warmer day on Monday at about 7 AM. I made some omelets. Two things I notice about European eggs: 1. they keep them at room temper...

Trip Report April'04 Part I; Keukenhof photos

Okay, I’ve been back for three weeks. My head is above water with my work, my garden is weeded, and the bills are paid. Time to make good on my promise of a trip report before the details fade. First of all, let me state that our week was simply great. The weather cooperated 6 out of 7 days, and it ...

Even in "progressive" California, people live in fear of Big Brother. I include Corporate America with its intrusions as well -- such as suing people beacuse their kid ran KAzaa on their computer. So sad to be see our freedoms eroded. But as a lover of freedom, I am happy for Da' and all his Russian...

My wife and I discussed this very issue after our last trip. While neither of us got hassled, the dog smelling us as we waited single file in the jetway sure is a helluva way to be welcomed back to the land of the brave and the home of the free. The U.S. has the great heritage of ideas about natural...

Not a trip report, yet.

Two weeks away from Amsterdam touchdown! My last brief trip resulted in such fun in posting a tiny bit of a trip report that I am thoroughly dedicated to doing justice to this trip. I know others have shared very personal stories on this board, but I generally have not. Nevertheless, I cannot help b...

It was like in the 300+ block of the Herengracht -- east side. There was a male and female masseuse. I don't know that a male masseuse would have been my ticket -- but not to worry, it seemed like he was serving the female customers. No -- no extras; the masseuse was ugly as sin, so thank God. Nice ...

40 hours in the Dam (cont'd)

The walk down the Dam was pleasant – just being back in the City made me feel happy – I always feel like my soul belongs to this city, an island of crazed sanity in an ocean of insane reality. My luggage was only a small carry on, so no bump bump bump of suitcase wheels over cobblestones. It feels l...

Brief Trip report -- Train ride to Amsterdam

Well, back from my little European jaunt, including about 40 hours in Amsterdam. With some of the questions here about Thalys service, thought I'd share my train trip. BO -- I bet your photos are from a bit later -- (mine are from the last week in March) -- I see lusher blooms and more green than I have seen.

I am hoping that the 3rd week in April gets me there near peak this year.

BTW, my daffodils have broken through the ground here at home!
