You're correct about the boating scene--its the coolest way of seeing the city. I had a canal tour of Leiden last time over--you should look into that!!!

ah, the Malo Meloe-my favorite little music club in the dam! Too bad you didn't make it......have you been there before? My favorite Amsterdam bands, Lazy Sunday Dream, and Rootsclub, play there regularly!

One thing I particularly enjoy is sitting down in my local coffeeshop(the american kind...), and enjoying a nice long trip report!
This was a great story--i really like the descriptions of remberances of first visits. Last Hamlet indeed has some comp!
